Hi Ludmilla!
I haven't imported furniture from China (or anything from China) but I can give you some tips about importing:
1. All imports will be charge import duties and customs fees. Both vary, so the best thing to do is contact the company in China and ask them for the Harmonized Tariff Code (HTS) of the product. This is number that customs will use to calculate the import duty cost. Then call UPS or FedEx, and ask them how much the duty and fees are likely to be for that product. (You could also call HM Customs or visit their website where they will have a document you can download).
2. If you haven't done business with a supplier before there is obviously some risk - the language difference can also lead to confusion. So ask them if they can you you the contact info of someone else in the UK that you can contact as a reference. Then call them and see if they are happy with the product quality and service.
3. You will have to pay the supplier in advance, so ask you bank what the costs are to transfer money.
Hope this helps. If you have other questions feel welcome to send me a pm.
