New to here, well been lurking for a while now, but thought I would post finally. When I was 18 I started NVQ2 at Brighton, but had to quit for personal reasons  but its been nearly 10 years since then, Ive had 2 babies and I think its time to finally complete what I set out to do.

I have spent every day trying to find some one local to me now to re do my NVQ2, and have now found a college offering part time, 1 evening a week over 2 years :rolleyes:long time but I have to do it.

So on Monday I will be phoning up the college and hopefully get a place starting the course in September. I have never stopped doing treatments on friends and family, and cant wait to hopefully get qualified and make a career out of it.

Will be good getting to know you all better

Hey,

Good for you! It sounds like you still really want to do it and sometimes you just have to go for it or you never end up doing it.

Hope you enjoy it and it works out for you.

xx

Go for it!

I started a Beauty course in 1999 but had to leave before it finished, had lots of random jobs and trained in I.T. before i decided to go back to Beauty 2 years ago, just finished my Level 3 and have been mobile for the past 9 months! I'm loving it! :green:

Good luck! xxx

Thanks for the kind replies.... I spent the weekend really thinking about things... Ive always been totally obsessed with nails (been doing my own extensions self taught for a few years now) so a total change of plan but Ive decided to enrol on NVQ2 nail services instead today, and to do beauty therapy after I finished this one... Im 27 and the taught of still learning till im 30.. am I mad

I will be starting 15th September, I am so excited, the college is a hours drive away but its all going to be worth it.

Have you thought about trying a private college? Yes it will cost more, but you should qualify much quicker as you will be working at your own rate.

If you worried about what type of education you will get privately, look at college that offers nvqs as these will all be inspected twice yearly to ensure standards are met.

Hope this helps, and good luck whichever way you decide to go.

I did look into it, but couldnt find any thing local to me, Dorset area. I have the 2 little ones to try and find care for whilst I study, but my parents said they can help out 1 day a week, so thought the college route would be easier as I only have to pay £20 for the course and £200 for the starter kit.

If any one knows of any thing local to me I would be grateful to look into this route to.

Most my family think Im mad taking this route and giving up nursing for it, but its all paperwork these day and I prefer the hands on work with patients
