Does any one know what I'd need to do to be able to teach hair extensions? I'm level 2 hairdressing nvq just passed, would I need to do level 3 then something else ?

Contact HABIA and check out the requirements for putting together your own course, its not as straight forward as just being able to teach... you need to have your courses approved.

There are plenty of companies offering courses without them being approved by any national body as last time I asked it wasnt an actual requirement... but it looks better having a name on your certificate.

Hi

You would need a qualification in your specialist area eg extensions

Experience is essential

You may need a teaching qualification such as pttls or dttls this can be obtained at a local College/Uni but it is costly

If you wish to assess in a College environment you will need an assessors qualification

Hi!

I'm qualified in teaching hair extensions! You need to first of all have completed your hair extension training, and have experience, then you need to complete a teaching course! I did my level 3 and 4 pttls training.

You would then need to speak to HABIA, and your insurer, and it's also important that you register and speak with the hair/beauty guild as they can help you with learning materials, advertise your course and keep you on the right track.

Good luck xo

That's great thank you, starting my level 3 this September so will go for the level 4 after that 😊
