Hi,

I am not sure if I have posted this in the correct place, but I am looking for some help with how to get work experience in a salon.

I will finish my NVQ2 Beauty Therapy in June and I would like to do some work experience in the Summer before level 3 begins.

I have no contacts in the beauty industry yet, so I am not sure how difficult it will be. I have thought about writing a CV and cover letter to send to my local salons. So I am asking for help on this forum, perhaps from salon owners, on what they would be looking for in a therapist. I would like to know what do I need to write in my cover letter to help me to secure a work experience placement?

Thanks!

Chaz

I'm having the same problem, i don't know where to begin! I tried calling a few salons but they were quite set that they ween't interested and i'm a little scared to call more now

Sorry to hear that. I am going to send some letters out to some local salons. I have not yet had a reply from Victrialeanne.

hi girls
i would say you can't go wrong by doing a nice cv, along with a covering letter, let them know all your qualifications and big yourself up, not lie, but let them know all you are capable of and what you want to acheive in your career.
always best to write to them, as ringing you never usually get to speak to the boss, and the other staff can just fob you off.
of course only write to the salons you would like to work in and have good reputations.
good luck, and keep trying as someone somewhere will want to take you on.
