I'm about to provide make-up services alongside facial treatments and my dilemma is stocking up on various shades of foundation. I use to work in Hong Kong as a professional make-up artists and mainly specialized in bridal make-up and had a cosmetic line sponsor my supplies so no hassle there. I'm now stationed in Brisbane, Australia and having done a lot of research on various brands, including Mineral foundations, I don't know what's best to do. To purchase all common shades of a particular brand such as Mac, Bobby Brown which are amongst the best in foundation. I've heard of Sheer Cover Minerals but have read many negative feedback about it on the internet. I have an extensive range of other make-up items, such as eyeshadows, blushers etc., it's the foundation that I'm stuck on. Any advice or suggestions would be HUGELY appreciated!

Hello there
I am a make up artist too and this is what I do:
I choose a brand that mainly provides good coverage (personally I use Maxfactor and Estee Lauder) and I buy only 2 shades: the really light shade and the darkest shade. So I mix the colours according to the shade of the skin and voila!
This way you can have more than one brand in your beauty case without spending too much.
Unfortunately you can't do the same with powders because they can't be mixed (since the best ones are compact in my opinion) so it's more convinient to buy 2-3 shades of compact powder from your favourite brand or buy a loose powder (transparent) that will match with all shades of foundation but be careful that it's not very "white" because it will make the foundation look lighter in shade.
I hope this works for you!
Good luck
xx

Thanks rtheoni, that's great advice! You're right, if I were to buy not all the shades in a brand, even several will break my pocket severely. I get how you do it and I think i'll work out. I agree with you that the best powders are in compact!
