Do I go for a manicure or are there other treatments you would recommend?

Where do I go to get it done? I heard most places won't accept men. I live in the London area so if anyone knows of a local place and prices that would be great

Hi Nick and welcome

Well firstly if a salon won't accept you because you're a man,that's a joke :!:

We here on Salon geek will help you find a true pro, maybe you could give us a better idea of your location (sommerset is fairly large,i would imahine) and we can crack on recomending some fab geeks, who i know will be happy to help.

Once we've done that your nail tech will have a consultation with you and decide on the best service to offer.

Ps i love your description on the anatomy of the nail,it's like reading something my hubby would say :D

Ps maybe pm a moderator and ask them to edit the thread title, you may get more response from local tech's that way hth's

Hi there Nick,

Where in Somerset do you live? I certainly don't have a problem with performing Manicures for men in fact I did one last night on a gentleman. Salon's can and do cater for male client's it's not a problem, there isn't a difference except women tend to have their nails polished. Males I usually buff the nails and apply oil.

Why don't you phone a couple in your area and see what they have to offer? Manicures are wonderful treatments for looking after the nails and hands and they can start at around £15.00 for a basic treatment, it depends what your local market commands.

Alternatively, you could just keep them tidy and clean. Also you can push your cuticles back (after a bath/shower whilst they are soft) with a 'Hoof' stick which can be purchased from Superdrug, Boots etc.

HTH,
Nora

I'm near Salisbury, Wilts so might not be too far away from you. I am currently practicing gel nails (inbetween training and taking exam) and would do you a manicure totally free just to help me gain experience. I am qualified for manicures, but have never done a male before. I was hoping there would be a 'gay male market' for nails in my area but I think that'll take some digging out lol

Hi Nick

Where abouts in Somerset are you? I am based in Portishead, North Somerset and have a 'Man Mani' treatment available which consists of nail shape, cuticle work, exfoliating scrub and conditioning treatment to hands, and nails buffed. Price is £12.00.

PM me if you want any further details

Claire

I'm assuming I must be the only guy in the 'straight male' market then..? That's niche!

Clair, might give you a shout if I'm ever down that way

hi

you are not the only one to want a male manicure - i regularly do a friends husband's manicure and pedicure....

My husband has had a mani too and another friends husband had one for his wedding day.

Everyone is ever more concious of their hands and i think its great that you are having it done - good for you!
