I would be interested in learning hot stone massage. Do you find it is popular?

hi Everyone,

I'm the geek from guru holistic training, thanks for your kind comments.
I am not actually the teaching the Lomi Lomi course, I am co-ordinating that specific course as I intend to attend the course myself! LOL!

I have 7 courses accreditted at the moment, and intend having another 10 courses accredited by this time next year.

I am having a lot of interest re: colon massage at the moment.

Hot stone massage is a deluxe treatment, I find it is very popular in the winter months and I market it as a 'winter warmer'. I find it raises in bookings if I put a discount on it, I normally charge an extra £7 for the hot stones, but sometimes I treat a client but using a few hot stones at the end of a massage, or a put some hot stones wrapped in mitts on their feet.
You can raise the luxury of a treatment very quickly by adding some hot stones, I also incorporate them into a foot massage and a facial.

I would definetly recommend you doing a hot stone course Pure. Its a shame that we live so far apart as I am just completing the hot stone manual and will be teaching that from next month.

Hi Poppyangel (love your user name btw), I would highly recommend you train in hands-free or no-hands massage, Lomi Lomi also uses the forearms rather than the hands.
The reason why I recommend these courses is if you are doing a lot of physical massage, and you are currently offering 4 types, you run the risk of RSI or carpal tunnel.
I read somewhere that I massage therapist has a 7 year shelf life then either burns out or has health issues like RSI, fibromyalga, etc. With that in mind, I made sure that I also trained in treatments that gave my hands a rest, such as reiki, crystal healing, hopi ear candles.
I've been trained in hands-free techniques, which shows you how to massage using your body weight, your forearms and knuckles, also how to do stretches using these techniques. If my hands start to tire I implement my hands-free techinques.

so my advice would be to train in that, and also add a few other treatments that are not massage related. HTH hun.

If you pop onto the guild site, you will find courses near you. (the link is in my signature).

It all sounds really lovely guru!!! i will def love to train in the no hands techniques ! Once i have have more training money i will look u up! Your training prices seem very reasonable to! just out of curiosity tho i have also attended a short course in massage which is acredited by the guild and i have a diploma but havnt got a separate a+p qualiofication yet . I am doing massage a+p tho in my level 3 course . Would i need to wait till after i qualified to attend your lomi lomi course or hote stones course?

If not then i can maybe do it sooner!

if you are working towards an A&P then it will be OK. Alternatively you can have an A&P module sent to you which you would do as a home study course prior to the course.

The Lomi Lomi tutor is happy for you to attend, for the hot stone you really have to be proficient in massage to attend, and if you've already done a massage course which is accredtited through the guild, I personally would accept that for you to attend the courses, you would have to check with other trainer providers before enrolling though.
