Whether you are a new nail business start-up, or a seasoned professional nail technician, appropriate beauty salon or nail technician insurance is an important part of running a business.

It seems there have been rumours in the industry that some insurers do not insure salons for Bluesky products. We get phone calls on a daily basis asking this. We are interested to know whether anyone else had problems?

We spoke to insurance experts at ABT Beauty Insurance, and The Guild of Beauty Therapists.

The Beauty Guild has been providing nail technician insurance and nail salon insurance for over twenty years, advising nail professionals on appropriate insurance cover for nail treatments. Our courses are now accredited with the Beauty Guild.

We also spoke to representatives at Professional Beauty in our nail gel insurance myth busting adventures. Their website says: We cover all nail treatments, nail art, manicures and extensions plus all of the popular gel varnishes as well.

All three top nail technician insurance providers said the same thing. A qualified nail technician is insured to provide a treatment, in this case the treatment is the application of UV/LED nail gels.

Any products that they choose to use are covered within the insurance policy and there are no exceptions, because it is the nail technician or salons themselves who are insured on condition they have been trained to provide the treatment. The only exception is where a course specifies only one brand and educates to a specific brand at the deliberate exclusion of another. Our courses don't do this.

All UV/LED nail gel polish products are considered equal for insurance purposes.
