Please, advice on steps for doing French, IBD gel

I've recently gone back to nails and am confused.
I'm no good at sculpting so prefer to use a natural tip and add the smile line in with gel.

Can an IBD trained person please confirm I am doing these steps correct as I have seen conflicting guidance on YouTube videos etc..

When i trained I was taught to do a thin layer of clear gel all over the nail including the tip sealing the free edge. Cure

Then add smile line cure, add another layer if colour requires, cure

Switch to builder gel and work stress line and blend down the nail. Cure

Are these steps correct???

I'm not trained in gel only l&p so can't really comment but nail angel have some amazing gel videos to watch YouTube can be so mix and match x
