Hi Geeks, I specialise in nails and am thinking about promoting my services to the local schools for the upcoming proms but am not sure what to do about my prices. I have read all the threads on the subject and have plenty of ideas how to market my services.

The question I have is should I be doing discounted prices/packages or leave my prices as they are? I have also been reading a lot of threads mentioning weekend nails, should I offer these?

Any advice would be welcome, it's stressing me out!

Good question. I'm advertising £28 to £40 a set, depending on weather it's an overlay, tips, nail art etc. Not sure if I'm being reasonable; would like to see what others think.

I'm doing a special promotion which includes a free bottle of non! Alcoholic Buck's Fizz just to make it different which I bring with chamagne glasses (plastic to keep) and if 2 girls book to have done at the same time they get 10% of if a home visit.

I'm finding it really hard deciding what to do and I always find this slows me down doing anything because I can't make a decision.

I really like your idea! I think adding something different will make you stand out. Have you done offers like this in the past, what success have you had? This is my first time so want to make sure I get some business from it.
I'm not a one for offering discounts normally because I think people will pay for a good service but I have never had teenagers as clients before so not sure if they should pay the same prices as my other clients.

I'm a mum of a 20 year old daughter and soon to be 19 year old boy, I know how much I had to pay out for their prom stuff.

I have more nieces than nephews and you should see what they are paying, the cost of prom nails is nothing but something every girl wants.

They want the dress, the shoes, the bag, the tan, the makeup and the nails, nails norm either French or full on bling matching colour to the dress.

I do prom deal shellac nails starting at £25 up to max top end £35 with nail art, rockstars, Swarovski crystals etc, this includes me going back for a soak off which i book at time of visit for max of 14 days later which they will have already booked in. If having toes done too then I'd add £15 for shellac or rockstar, I don't do Swarovski toes for prom deals. They get a pinkie oil free and if 2 girls same house I do a deduction of 10%. I don't charge for going back for the soak of unless they are having a new shellac, but most won't, to just a prom thing, but I already have booked it so can plan other things round it. Tho you can if need be sell the soak of kits so they can do it their selves.

Parents have never said a word about the price as its a one off and they like that to that its all booked for the removal.

I've had a few enquiries already from word of mouth and my leaflets being printed now, so going to be distributing that ASAP.

Average girl with dress, shoes, hair, makeup, tan, nails etc will spend 2/300 pounds around here, some do get cheaper dresses from abroad but they don't scrimp on the tan makeup and nails, so personally. Wuld not offer too much of a deal, do something that other places don't.

Thanks this is a huge help.xx:biggrin:

That's ok, happy to help.

Just wanted to add my norm shellac price is £22.00 so start it slightly higher on the prom deal, non alcoholic cocktails from supermarkets are very very cheap but to a nice touch :) I also norm charge £22.00 for toes, but if doing both at the same time then the discount is good and they can see they are getting a deal.. So if only toes no nails, I'd charge £25.00 for shellac bit more for rockstar.

Oh and hand done 3d nail art is extra on top not in the deal as obviously that takes time.
