Striping tape question

Hi,

I know the answer must be on here somewhere but I just can't locate it

I have just purchased striping tape, wanting to practice before doing on an actual client I have applied to my own nails but only hours later the tape is lifting.
Using CND Shellac I applied 1 base, 2 colour, the tape and then sealed with 1 top coat.
I had to cut the tape to the correct length once it was on my nail, could this be why! Should I cut correctly first?
Any advice welcome.

Hi I make sure I apply it to the sticky layer of the second coat of shellac then I cut to size. I make sure it is slightly shorter than the nail so when you apply top coat it is encapsulated under the top coat and I also apply 2 coats if too coat .
