Student Card

Hi all!
Sorry, not sure if I've put this in the right place or not.
I'm currently doing Level 2 NVQ in Beauty Therapy and have just got my Lifetime VTCT Registration from my tutor who said it also acts as my student card. However, I have tried to buy a few things from Ellisons, Sallys and a few other places but I can't find a way of putting my number in to get the discount, does this mean I can only buy over the phone or go instore?
If anyone can help, I'd be grateful.
Sorry if it sounds a bit thick, most probably doing something wrong!

We got a separate student card from our college and that was used at a local wholesalers. The lifetime VTCT reg card doesn't act as a student card, never heard of that before, maybe ring the awarding body and find out.
