My husband suffers with Roseaca and needs a good daily sunscreen. Up till now he has been using Clinque M lotion with SPF21 for men BUT im not sure its the best as it does nothing for calming the skin.

I am a nail tech so my only skin care knowledge comes from products I use. Ive recently started with temple spa products but want to know if any of the professional brands demalogia etc provide a specific facial sunscreen at least spf 20 that mineral based rather than chemical sunscreams that can act as an irritant to Roseaca suffers. Ideally also something that contains a calming ingreadient (licorice?).

Thanks x

Hi, sorry about your husbands condition. I can recommend the following products:

Medik8 physical sunscreen SPF 30

Skinceuticals mineral sunscreen

I have used both of these products effectively to protect skin conditions such as Rosacea. And after peels and skin needling procedures, both contain healing and protecting ingredients.

I would get in touch with Skinbrands www.skinbrands.co.uk they are the distributor and training centre for both of these brands aswell as several other cosmeceuticals, they will be able to put you in touch with your nearest clinic or authorised retailer.

I hope this helps

I retail RAD from Environ which is an excellent, high performance UVA/UVB SPF 15. Only 15???? Yes, and that is plenty if you're using a high quality product. 15 is apparently the highest you can go before introducing chemicals to perform the SPF. It is sold in salons offering treatments that need great protection afterwards, without the aggravants. Does he use a moisturiser as well? Please feel free to pm me if you would like more info x

I don't want to be argumentative but thought you might appreciate this information. SPF 15 is not the highest factor without use of chemicals, I am familiar with Environ and have the greatest respect for the products but Medik8 have formulated their SPF 30 in November 2012 and it is without chemicals. Please find the link below x

Thanks for that - which is why I said 'apparently' because that is what I have been told!

I could have written it better, I was being genuine and offer my advice with regards to the spf information that might be of help. Environ products are great. x

Excellent! Phew! I typed my response to your post w/ my phone in a rush and then when I read it back I thought Gosh I could have come across better! Am not based in the UK anymore and don't retail there, but skincare is my passion and I am happy to offer advice. I have used Medik8 along with other equally great products for some years, check out the SPF 30, I was so pleased when it came out!! x

I actually asked the rep about this today and she said that the spf in Environ is actually much higher, but it sold as a 15. Logically it can be higher - we sell a Jane Iredale Powder Me mineral SPF which is a 30!!! X

How strange they don't sell it as higher! Bizarre! Jane Iredale is lovely x

I too suffer from Roseaca and i rely on herbal or organic skin care products as chemical products itch on my skin. So try something herbal which re easily available in any medical store.

I agree with using natural products also whenever possible and think both Squidgernetball and myself suggested chemical paraben free products that contain only natural ingredients. I distribute for an organic skin care company but we are yet to formulate a stable 100 % organic SPF product, this is incredibly difficult to do, many products have several natural or indeed organic ingredients but are not always 100% natural or certified organic as an entire product, even those sold in health stores. I would always recommend seeking advice from a dermatologist, Dr or skin specialist before purchasing a product for a condition.

Hi,

I have rosacea and have tried many things. I stumbled across Eucerin Daily Protection Face Lotion spf30 in Florida (its was around $7!!) and I absolutley love it. So upset I didn't get more as I can now only get in from ebay. Im not sure if it is chemical free - i doubt it but it has never irritated my skin, and I have found that with a combination of limiting alochol, switching from bare minerals foundation to Jane Iredale (bare minerals ruined my skin!) and using Eucerin DPFL my rosacea has improved. It is still there but a huge improvement!

Yes unfortunately the term 'mineral make up' is very misleading, and they are not all created equal. I have helped calm a lot of clients skins just by changing make up. Glad you found JI so good!
