I am currently a junior in high school and am trying to figure out what i want to do with my life. I have always been interested in the beauty industry, but don't really know much detail about actually owning a salon. If anyone could give me an overview of what courses (ex: business, hair/nail classes) i would need to take in order to open my own place in the future, that would be greatly appreciated! Oh, and could someone explain to me what NVQ means? Thanks in advance!

Google "cosmetology in WI" and it will give you start.

Also look for colleges in your local area that offer this sort of course. 1200 hours for Cosmetology course which covers all the main things and then you can go onto specialise in other things.

I am doing a Bachelors in Massage Therapy in Florida and am in the process of opening my own Spa after a long career in something technical I just wanted a change so good luck with your plans as you have years ahead to do it.

NVQ is National Vocational Qualification (just awarded in the UK I believe). It's a list of qualifications that you do in levels, and once you have reached a certain standard you get awarded a level and it is your certificate to prove your experience so to speak.
