Hi there I have never worked in the beauty industry before, i've always had just the run of the mill day job as I didn't do too well at school. So I decided to better myself and started from scratch.

I've done the anatomy and physiology, body massage, aromatherapy and i'm going to be finished my reflexology course in a few weeks. Though I never felt confident enough to have a go at it and also how to go about it. I really want to get up and do it this time but I was looking for some advice as I've never done this before, the only practise i've had is with my case studies.

I work full-time mon-fri (I have my own portable table)and would like to stay in that job untill I feel im confident enough and have more qualifications under my belt. I would like to do mobile treatments at the moment and don't really know where to start and what I need (apart from clients lol). Some help would be greatly appriciated.
Thankies

hello

I am doing level 2 beauty therapy and am in same position where i work full-time mon-fri and at college two evenings. I cannot afford not to work so i just work on friends and family on a mobile basis just doing the units i have completed - waxing and manicures at the moment, just to gain more experience.

All i did was tell as many people as possible i can do treatments one or two evenings during week and weekends, and so far do about 6 clients. Hopefully this will lead to more once have completed other units.

i bought a small folding table and products from wholesaler - they gave me a pass as was student - and so far it has helped build confidence in doing treatments.

If you have got a folding bed that is excellent - have bed will travel!

just go for it, even just one or two treatments it will build up!

Good luck

Thats great thanks,
I have a few family members that will be my clients and havn't told many friends but think I will, do you discount your friends and family? I feel akward when it comes to the money part. Whats the best way to confront that part as I tend to get really embarrassed?
Also good luck to you to too!:green:

I personally do charge friends & family (except my mum & partner) as at the end of the day it costs time & money to carry out a treatment. I'd certainly never expect any of my friends & family to do things for free for my benefit!

The best thing when asking for the money is to state the price confidently - never try & second guess what other people can afford/are willing to pay, let them decide that. Your time is worth money, and you are using products that cost money - you are also entitled to make a living and I'm sure you have no qualms about asking your employers to pay you!

Yes i charge everyone except my mum. I have a very simple price list - i picked up a few price lists from shops and online and just set prices a bit cheaper as still not upto the standard of fully qualified therapist. i have added at the end that prices valid until.....

If you just approach it by saying you are mobile and here is a list of what is available, and obviously your prices will be on there.

go for it!
