I did my sienna x spray tanning yesterday and am really keen to get started, I dont have my certificate yet so I have not added tanning to my insurance although I have enquired with ABT for pricing etc (i only have nail tech insurance at the moment). Where do I stand if I start charging now? or do i have to wait for my certificate so I can get it added on? Has anyone trained recently with Sienna X could tell me how long Iwill have to wait??

Thanks
AJxx

You can start charging whenever you want, even untrained people out there are doing it!
The point is do you want to run the risk whilst uninsured - no you don't, so the answer is quite simple, train, insure, practise.
Many people spray tan without being trained or being insured and it shows. I see lots of salons and mobile therapists who just don't know what they are doing. You've all seen the results walking about!
You've been trained by one of the best training company's and probably use their solutions as well, you have a head start over the rest. So get on and practise on all your friends and wait for the insurance. Good Luck!

You can start charging when you feel you are ready to do so and have proper commercial insurance which covers you to do so.
Technically speaking once you have completed your training you are a qualified therapist and therefore can obtain insurance.
Some insurers will insist on proof of qualification prior to providing cover however if you call the insurers that the course provider may be accredited with and explain you are simply awaiting your certificate they may well provide your cover pending your certificate coming through...if needs be they can always call the company for confirmation of your training.

In terms of how long certificates take this is greatly influenced by the sheer workload of the company concerned...remember its high season and all training companies are busy busy busy so the turnaround tends to be a tad longer than out of season periods.

HTH and good luck with your new venture

Hi, I trained with Sienna X and the certificate came thru really quickly - talking days!
If you go with ABT just double check the small print, as Sienna X say you can normally spray pregnant ladies as long as not in first 3 months, however in my ABT small print they do not insure me to spray pregnant ladies no matter what stage of their pregnancy they are in.
My insurance is up for renewal soon so going to look into other companies!
