I have a home salon (log cabin) and run my business part time. I tend to more waxing, tanning and pedicures then anything else but one of my regulars now wants to come for a facial too. She says she been places before and cannot have a steamer as it makes her panic, what else can I use/do - I know some salons use hot towels but I don't have one of the towel cases and it's not worth it for me to buy one - any suggestions or do I just have to miss this altogether but then what about extractions etc? Thanks

It depends what type of facial you are offering. I don't do steaming or extraction in any of my facial treatments and this has never been questioned by any of my clients.

Did she say why she wanted the facial?

I use hot towels as I think it's a nice relaxing touch. I have a hot towel caddy but there are ways around it if you don't have one: you could use a kettle (boiled prior to facial starting) then when you double cleanse, you could pour the hot water into a bowl, dunk your mitts or flannel in to the water, squeeze out excess and test temp so that you don't burn them! Then you can place over the face and remove the product. Personally I think this is much nicer than using cotton pads.

I specialise in facial treatments and a steamer and hot towel cabbi for me are basic pieces of equipment for treatment. They are relatively low cost too. I use both in most facials with the exception of chemical peels and non surgical.
If you don't want to invest in these (if you don't do many facials) then use hot water and a towel compress, which will work the same as a towel cabbi X

I trained in facials and also went on a Susan Molyneux course, they always used Hot water, with a drop of lavender oil in it and a good quality small rectangular white towel which was soaked in the hot water for a couple minutes then wrung out and applied to the face, pressing down for a minute and repeat once more, this is very relaxing,

Hi Geeks. (Lol) first time posting on here
But thought it might help
I came across a salon video doing facials and instead of a steamer she used a rice cooker (yes that's right)

I've been using that and it's absolutely brilliant
Yes might look like ure cooking. Other than that think you should give it a try xx
