Hello geeks hope you all had lovely Christmases?!
I thought I'd get my lashes done on Xmas eve, as no one near me provides the treatment I had to go on a 24 mile round trip. I had searched for the salon and website looked amazing providing some really exciting new treatments etc.
It did not live up to the website!!! When I arrived it was basically a porta-cabin, the lady who done my lashes looked like a customer-no tunic/professional outfit. I don't mind what people wear but in an environment like that are gold trainers really the look they're going for?
Anyway here are my main points/moans/not sure if I'm wrong to think these things/not sure if procedure was done correctly?
1-room was gross; greasy marks up wall/damp walls/skirting board broken off.
2-I took my make up off while the lady got ready and I had a peek at the lashes they were J 10s & 12s. When she came back I said do you have C curls?this was the answer-'no these are all we have, well they're probably Cs anyway as we just buy them and use the old containers to keep them in'
I can't believe in a salon there is no choice of curl or even length-what if they're too long for my lashes?! I didn't want a J! at this point I thought of leaving but I really wanted them done for Xmas.
3-I still can't get over it taking 45mins! For both eyes! Tell me this is crazy?even for an experienced person??
4-at the end a few of my lashes stuck to the bottom and she said she'll have to use scissors-I didn't really know how she was going to do anything with scissors but I've seen now as 3 of my bottom lashes are stumpy like 2mm long! She cut them off!!
5-I've resorted to taking my lashes off now I am home-I went away for Xmas but this has really disappointed me I paid £59!! I think even I can do better when I sat up she asked if they were ok and I went to say some at the corner were not stuck but she'd already left the room! 3 just dropped off my eye as I sat up! When I got home and had a good look some were glued to my lid and some were hardly stuck and just jabbing into my lid. They were not even-I will attach pics.
Now I have removed them I could see I actually had bunches of like 3-5 stuck together. 😰
Sorry for the massive post I just can't get over it! I wonder what your thoughts are? Thankyou 😞

They do look uneven! Not sure how long your natural lashes are but they look pretty long. My friend had some lashes done a little while ago and they were awful, didn't look nice, felt like plastic even tho the girl said they were mink, loads fell out within an hour so she called her back to redo. Then within the next day or two the rest fell out! Thankfully I made her txt the girl and tell her they weren't very good, she have a full refund and blamed a new glue!

I don't think they look ultra bad from the photo but the scissors would have rang alarm bells for me.

Sounds like a general lack of customer care was the biggest disappointment here.

I know of other lash therapists who, probably because they aren't lash specialists, mostly have J lashes on offer because they're most popular but I always like to have some Bs and Cs myself, even though Js are most popular for me.

I don't think the lashes look terrible - they look full except one of the corners looks a bit bare.
With regards to length and curl I think you could have benefited from more of a curl - she should have given you a consultation and understood what type of look you were interested in (glamour, natural, natural flick etc..)
I can not believe she used scissors and cut some of your bottom lashes.. Not acceptable!!
You mentioned that it taken 45 minutes for both eyes, it can take some therapists an hour & a half so try not worry about length of time!
Have you rang them and complained?
Xx

45 mins is not a crazy time for a new set. Depending on the client's natural lashes I can do a full set, every lash, in 45 mins to an hour :)

Ask for a refund. I would. You should've trusted your gut and stopped before the start.
Did they not require a patch test/consultation?
At least you now know how not to be when you do lashes! X

I agree with LMA, you should have received a patch test & proper consultation x

Hi girls thanks for all the replies.
She did say when I called I would have to go for a patch test but it's very far from me and I didn't want one. (She said this would be ok if I just sign a disclaimer-which they never asked me to do when I got there in the end)
I have thought about a refund and usually I'm not afraid to ask but I feel a bit sorry for the girl she was telling me her tough life story though I know this is not relevant really.
What can I say though to get a refund? Especially now I have taken them out? They will just say I should of said something at the time!
I didn't get any kind of consultation I just walked in the room and she said how would I like them. Not that it made any difference as I only got the one curl and 2 lengths they had!
I didn't even feel her separating it was just like every 2 seconds her hand was there attaching another one.
They were very long but I do personally think they were too long especially on the inner eye-how are my small lashes meant to carry that length? I do think they were .25s aswell as when I removed them they were so thick!
I just keep worrying about the money the whole thing was so unprofessional but I don't want to upset the young girl that did them! Aaaaah I'm stuck! 😫

Just be completely honest with how you feel - that the service you received was not worth the money you spent!
I would personally like to know by the client if she was not happy with the job I done rather than tell friends - as that is her loosing business! Xx

Got to be cruel to be kind! If you genuinely feel bad for her and don't need the money back then maybe offer her constructive criticism instead? Ask her about her qualifications and try to offer advice? If she doesn't listen and takes it badly then I wouldn't have much confidence in her intentions as a lash tech, and then I would pursue it further. Does that make sense?

Also, warn her that, even if you had signed one, disclaimers do not stand up in court should anything go wrong. X

Thankyou. The "owner" or manager was there-the girl said she only works a couple of days as she has a baby. What if she gets sacked!? Am I just getting carried away?
I do need the money-don't we all? But I wouldn't be doing it if I was pleased etc as it would of been worth the money. I used to pay £60 where I went before and the girl was 1hr and half and they looked amazing. After these they just look so crap. I don't want them offering a re-lash I do not want to go there again. If they offered a refund can they do it without me going there as I paid via card? I don't want the poor girl to be there!
Any advice on how I go about his awkward phone call? I don't want to go there as 1 it's so far and 2 I don't want to embarrass them as in the reception area there are 2 nail treatment desks with clients etc.x

If anyone has a problem with any off our services we always prefer them to get back to us. We cant fix it if we dont know. I underatand where you are coming from when you see an all singing all dancing site you expect a lot. 45 mins is quick but I know a therapist who is good and she only takes 45mins she did say she would prefer an hour but she doesnt have the time. It is wrong you didnt have an option on at least lengths. I dont think the lashes themself are expensivd to but the glue is costly and time consuming so not having a variety of lashes isnt acceptable to me. Worst of all no patch test. As a therapist she should refuse to do the treatment without a patch test but as a client you should never take the risk of not having it done at the end of the day you are putting yourself at risk. And if they dont make you have a patch test how proffesional are they really? There seemed to be a few warning signs. I would contact her and let her know your experiance. Dont nit pick or she might not take you serious. Good luck.

If they're never told what is wrong with the treatment they might never improve it, and so people continue to go there and be disappointed until the reputation gets the better of it...
All you can do is be honest! State why you were disappointed with the service/results and therefore are entitled to having your money back. Say the distance means you don't have time to go back etc. They can do bank transfer, PayPal payment, post you a cheque or something can't they? Unless they have the policy where it has to be refunded to the card it was paid with, I've known that in a shop before but it's not the case everywhere... X

Thankyou girls. I'm scared!
I hope it's not her that answers the phone. I will try tomorrow and let you know how I get on 😟
I know it should help them to know. I know if it was me I would want to know. I don't think I feel like this because of learning lashing recently, I think it's cos I know what they used to look like when I got them done before.
Even though I am new to it I haven't left big gaps or cut anyone's lashes off!
LMA do you think I should mention all my points above or just say I wasn't happy and some came out/felt uncomfortable. I also had one somehow glued on my upper waterline so I could feel it when I closed my eye it was horrible!!
I didn't tell them I do lashes.x

It's really important that you contact this place - for more of a health and safety issue and for the reputation of our lash industry.
It's lash techs like this that ruin our industry whether she knows it or not.

If she is sticking lashes to the water line, using lashes that are too thick or too long then there's going to be lash damage and this is not the reputation we want for lash extensions.

Just say that you were unhappy with the service and clearly state your reasons why, if you don't want a refund also state this, maybe add that as a lash tech you know how hard this industry is and that you want to just give some constructive advice to her etc - I'm sure that will appreciate that rather than an unhappy angry client that wants their money back xx

I once had to cut a top lash when doing an emergency removal of weekend lashes (after someone else's horrific work not mine!) and I felt awful having to do it but I'd already been at it ages trying to remove the mess of clusters... Luckily her lashes were naturally thick and it wasn't noticeable.

Make yourself a list of all the issues you've mentioned but when you call just say that the application and results were not up to a satisfactory standard. They if they ask for specific details then you have the list to hand and can reel them off if needed rather than going blank over the phone (I often do as I hate talking on the phone, idk why). X

She used marvel lash glue but that doesn't mean she trained with them does it? I've just had another thought-what if someone else is actually trained and they've just shown her how to do it rather than be trained?? On there website is a part about the staff and what they all specialise in and there was only 1 girl who it said does the lashes but it was not her when I got there (I've only just thought of this but maybe they just haven't updated their site?)
I was thinking I could email? Or am I just chickening out now?! 🐓 haha x

As you already know you should have made your complaint while you were there ... there was enough to complain about!!

You knew before you went through the 'porta-cabin'door that you should have got back in your car and left.

Three lashes fell out before you even got off the couch ... so really I think that all these days later you should just suck it up and never return.

I don't see the point. There is nothing much you can say to them now that you should have said to them at the time.

And you have removed them ... how many times have you read on this site geeks advising that any client who removes their nails and then complains are out of luck??

Next time when you see evidence that puts you off before your treatment starts don't be afraid to leave.

Marvel-lash isn't the best. I trained using it and it took ages to dry and never lasted.
You could email. I get ferocious via email sometimes though haha if you do email I'd ask about if the girl was qualified seeing as it doesn't say on website etc. X

Thankyou for your advice. I don't see it as too late to complain I got them done Xmas eve and they did not open til today. I got back from my time away last night.
I have seen posts about clients removing their 'treatments' I just couldn't keep them on anymore they were looking ridiculous!
I got a lift to the place and when I see outside I didn't like the look of it-but I am really not someone who judges by first impressions so I went ahead it could of been a haven inside! I also felt like I couldn't leave as my lift dropped me and drove off so if I left I would of literally stood on the road looking a bit silly haha though like you say I should of gone. It's done now though, I didn't leave and ended up with god awful lashes-is that really my fault? I didn't know what they were gonna turn out like.x
