My hair Looks shinier and healthier at first glance but my ends are frazzled, even after a trim :( could it have been that my ends were fried before and the brazillian has just made this more obvious?.even though I didn't notice?..I was reassured the treatment wouldn't be damaging and now I'm terrified of washing my hair for the first time incase the damage ends up more prominent. A little gutted right now.

I also need to purchase a sulphate free shampoo? I was thinking purelogogy? Or does anyone have any recommendations? Can I continue to use a regular conditioner? I use joico k-PAC or do I need to use a sulphate free condition too?

Thinking I might end up needing to get a fringe cut in as the damage is worse at the ends of the front sections.

What brand did you have?

This can happen with an iron that's too hot, not enough product, too many iron strokes and if you have bleached hair it to be expected.

Thanks for your reply, I'm not sure what brand it was. I did ask about the irons she was using and she said they were specialist irons for brazillian blow dries that reached a higher temp than the likes of GHD's.

My hair is a subtle ombre so my ends up have been lightened previously, perhaps that's why.

I shouldn't have been so naive when I was told there would be no risk of damage :(

On bleached hair we use irons cooler than GHD- especially on bleached hair!

If you didn't have enough product used very hot irons then SINGE!

Did they not recommend specific aftercare?

Thanks for you reply :) I purchased a leave in spray conditioner from the salon and she said to use a sulphate free shampoo. I've looked through my shampoos but they all contain sulphate. I really want to use something conditioning because my hair is now so dry but I'm not sure if I'm able to.

I thought it was usual to provide the specific aftercare to this service, we include it in our first visit.

I'm not sure about the conditioner, I would ring the salon and asks to clarify the aftercare. Maybe mention the crunch ends, it might say sometime else's hair!

I find it strange they didn't recommend their own.

Hello what ever you do now you must go back to the salon who did your treatment and show them your hair. That salon should have sold you a take home kit. And given you advise for home care. I myself about a 15mts ago had bra zillion blow wave at a fancy salon which cost thousands literally as my hair is very very long.
Basically the idit used an iron too hot for my hair and fried it and as a result I had to cut almost half of it off about month later to stop the rest also going back.
I hope this doesn't happen to you but it can get worse. However to repair ur hair kerastarsis uses cement shampoo which did help repair mine. And then I went for weekly salon treatments for about 6mts. It was a disaster I almost died bcoz my hair is one my most valued things.

So do not sit here and moan get up go to salon and complain! People musnt get away by abusing good products and ruining clients hair or skin!

Beauty at your finger tips!

I had the Brazilian twice and noticed more spilt ends than before. I stopped having it done and now my new hair had no split ends. I have no colour on my hair so I have a straight perm instead and I barely have to touch my hair with a GHD now. I can wash, blow dry (if in a rush) and GHD all in 38 minutes. And it looks as good as when I nip into the salon for a wash and blow dry. Amazing. It used to take at least 2 hours before. I used to dread washing my hair. Not anymore :) x

Should have said I'm nail girl not hair specialist so my two pence is a personal experience nothing more x

Brazilian blowdry are not suppose to do anything to split ends!

Only way to solve this is cut them off, you are passing hot irons over damaged hair of course it won't help, they are designed to reduce blow drying of the hair and eliminate frizz so you don't have to style as much.
