    Dodgy enquiries for massage

Oh it definitely goes deeper, no one is going to argue otherwise, but probably the only industry that gets propositioned at work more than Beauty is exotic dancers.

    Dodgy enquiries for massage

I know how to deal with the enquiries and protect myself. What I'm saying is, as an industry, we should be doing something about it. All the CCTV, deposits, only booking male massage for partners of female clients .... it doesn't stop creeps from asking. Like it or not - to pervs on the...

    Dodgy enquiries for massage

I don't think advertising personal close contact services for women only is discriminatory as it's a safeguarding issue for both clients and the therapist. While 'extras' may be legal and lucrative for the "massage parlours" that thrive on it - why should respectable, professional therapists...

    Dodgy enquiries for massage

I have male clients - ones that I know and trust - so I wouldn't want to run them off. It's just so sad that, in the 21st century, we have to work like this :'(

    Dodgy enquiries for massage

I made a meme and have shared in in a couple of Facebook groups, it doesn't apply to you as you're not doing massage but I could change it and post it here so people can save it and share on social media?

    Dodgy enquiries for massage

Yes, I've got all that sorted but it still doesn't change that guys will still ask - is there anything we can do to raise awareness and change attitudes?

    Summer house salon

I'm in Scotland and we've spent that last 10 months getting my beauty cabin up and running. Often, you don't need planning permission for the cabin/summerhouse build - 90% of the time it will come under permitted development, but you will need to contact your local authority planning department...

    Dodgy enquiries for massage

Yesterday I had another enquiry from a male asking if I did 'extras'. It's not the first time and, unfortunately, it won't be the last - it's all too common for my tastes and I'm incredibly lucky that I've managed to flush out prospective pervs during the enquiry process and not had to challenge...

    Computer system?

Most appointment apps work on desktop computers and tablets/phones. You set it up with a username and password so you can use it on any device that you install the app on.

Taking card payments, bank or PayPal?

Interesting, I didn't know that about PayPal. I've never heard of Starling Bank before and with both of you mentioning it I just had a look - amazing that their business account is free, but I'm so fussy with my banking - I like everything to be in one place so I've got more thinking to do...

Taking card payments, bank or PayPal?

Thanks. Can you print off statements from your Paypal account for doing your books/taxes? I've already checked that most of the wholesalers I use can take online orders via paypal. I think Paypal would be less pressure? I feel banks are always trying to sell you something

Taking card payments, bank or PayPal?

I've been mobile for years, clients have always paid in mostly cash (very occasionally through paypal/bank transfer), never felt the need for a separate business bank account but I'm changing to a static location (Garden Room) and want to switch to mainly accepting card payments due to Covid-19...

Switching from mobile to garden building set up

Okay, I've finally convinced my husband to consider me having a garden room after showing him the costs for having my own shop - can any of you tell me if it's worked out well for you? I'm mobile, have been for 3 years, but I'm not getting any younger and I'd like to put down roots rather than...

    Blacklisting clients

I'm a mobile therapist and I have this one client who has booked online twice before but cancelled at the last minute, but she had booked in for waxing this morning and I expected a cancellation but prepared just in case. Spend 20 mins driving over, unpack all my gear from the car and chap her...

    Does mobile work for you?

I set up mobile, never worked in a salon, and it's great for fitting around your schedule. I have a FB page and advertise in local groups, take part in local holistic fayres and donate gift vouchers for local raffles and such. I have a lot of regular clients and when I returned to college to do...

    Comfortable footwear?

Sketchers Go Walk. I have Achilles tendinopathy and they're they only shoes that don't feel like the bones in my ankles are grinding together.

    Am I too old?

I decided to train as a beauty therapist at 40, until that point I'd been plugging away in retail. I think my life experience has made me a better therapist.

    Bridal makeup courses?

 That's soooo expensive. You can check out myworldofwork.co.uk and see what's on offer near you - you might need to across the Forth for it mind you
