A question for all you gel geeks

Hey everyone!

Okay, so I know from all the reading I've done on here that you can very effectively extend the nailbed with acrylic...is there a way to do this with gel?! I've tried doing searches, both here and on google and seem to be coming up empty.

Does anyone out there have an answer for me? If we CAN extend the nailbed with gel, can someone point me to some tutorials etc. to help me learn?

You can extend the nail bed using gel. I have seen some tutorials on it. It appears to be done with Opaque gels and most use a reverse application method. I have tried this with not a lot of success.

I find that if your use a form and extend the free edge with a little clear gel and then place your white where you would like it. Once you have finished this you can fill using your opaque pinks.

It takes a little practive but it can be done.

I know that CND covers this in some of their tutorials, but I think it on the CD they offer and not on the website.

I would snoop around youTUBE and other gel company sites to see what they do. Try the Young Nails site they are also very useful too.

You most certainly can extend the nail bed with gel, you need a coverage/opaque gel and match it to the skin tone of your client.

CND have a video on Brisa Gel enhancements that show how to extend the nail bed... You might have to register to view the video.

I see your in Canada....heard of Akzentz....? they do a coverage gel for elongating the nail bed....they do it in warm (natural peachy tone) and cool (more of a pink tone) HTH

Thanks everyone for the advice! I'll be checking nailbasics first to see if they carry an opaque gel, then go from there!
