I am looking at acrylic courses in the midlands and the only ones I can find are 1 or 2 day courses. It doesnt seem realistic to me that I would spend just one day learning and then be qualified ???? They say I would recieve a diploma ?? Is there any point ?? Will salons except this qualification ??

There are loads of training threads running at the moment! I would advise you to ring Sweet Squared on 0845 210 6060 and talk to the girls in Education about the CND 5 day Foundation Course - it is the most fantastic entry to the industry and gives you a good, solid base of both information and skill.

You cannot possibly learn all you need to know from a 1 or 2 day course, but then the CND Foundation course is exactly that - a foundation from which to build your knowledge and skill. Your first course should never be your last.

A search on wither 'training' or 'CND Foundation' will give you loads more info.

i did my acrylics course over one day at college last year iv had so many clients since but i basically feel that iv taught myself with the "handy instructions" they gave us iv been doing acrylics now for well over a year with at least 2 sets done a week have regular clients and never have had complaints considering i near enough taught myself lol!! so id say go ahead with it as they say practice makes perfect :) xxx

I'd say DON'T GO FOR IT. 1-2 days for a foundation course it's not enough at all. It's just impossible to learn everything in such a short period of time. I'd rather find something else to start with because at the end of the day you'll feel like you haven't learned anything.
regards

Without wishing to be argumentative practice does not make perfect - PERFECT practice makes perfect. If you practice doing the wrong thing you will just get very good at doing the wrong thing! Surely it's better to get good education under your belt so at least you know your technique is right?

Btw, I hope you taught yourself about working safely to avoid over-exposure as well as conta-indications when you taught yourself acrylics.....

Hi

Check out www.sweetsquared.com - I'm sure they have an educator in Birmingham who runs the courses.

They also have follow on programmes where you can focus on your weak points (1-2-1 days).

This really is very poor advice to give anyone. Learning 'by the seat of your pants' is simply not a smart way to learn what's more, you will have HUGE gaps in your knowledge that you are taking no account of? You obviously do nails as a hobby.

It would be very interesting to know if you are correctly insured to work on the public? Are nails a significant source of your income? Do you declare your earnings to the Inland Revenue? Can we see some photographs of the nails you have done and judge how skillful you really are? Do you run a proper business? Looks to me in your profile like you have done several short courses and are trying to set yourself up as a Beauty Therapist?

If the answers to any of those questions is NO then I suggest you are 'playing at it' and no one should take any advice from you as it has no credibility at all.

EZ Flow do courses in the West Midlands. They do 4 day and 6 day courses. If you want more info then give them a call on 01299 841009

I have just finished my CND course and I did it in Birmingham. I absolutely loved it and was completely shocked that I was able to do a full set of nails by my third day. Although it is only a five day course , the way they teach the course is fantastic. highly recommend CND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
