I've used google adwords for about 18 months for other non salon based projects and have had a fair amount of success.
The advantages as I see them are:
- You can set your own budget
- You can keep an eye on how many times your site has come up and how many times it has been clicked on and what percentage that it (gives you an idea of whether it's worth it)
- You can alter your budgets as and when you like
- You can cancel at any time
Disadvantages have been:
- Minimum monthly budget I believe is £30 as anything under that wouldn't be enough for it to even show up.
- Can take a few months to discover which keywords you are using are being effective and which aren't.
- If you are aiming for a local audience ie for a salon, it doesn't make too much sense to have the ads appearing on sites all over the country.
I have no idea how people have found it for a salon use, but that is what I have discovered through my other dealings with them.
