Hi,

I asked for balayage like in the first pic but ended up with the second pic. The hairdresser used foils which I thought was odd? And there was double the amount on the left side (where I part my hair) compared to the right, as a result there is a lot more blonde on that side and the right side looks brown with a strand or two of blonde. How easy/hard would it be to correct this? I feel like it's really patchy and fake looking and nothing like what I asked for. Is this due to the foils? Thanks!

Yes that is fixable :) no it's not due to the foils, I think it's probably due to the stylist not having knowledge or experience in balayage! Find a reputable hairdresser with experience in this technique to get what you want :)

Thank you! Thank god for that. I researched and went to a reputable salon, but it was the stylist's ("artistic director" nonetheless!) first day :/ so I'd booked in with the balayage specialist days before and ended up with this by the other woman. Unfortunately it was just one of those things. It cost £80 without a blow dry as I had to leave with wet hair to get to an appointment hence why I didn't raise issue in the salon. The blonde looks overprocessed and was lilac from the shampoo, so an all round awful job :(

Any idea why she put a lot of foils on one side? It looks ridiculous from the front and back.

That's a very poor job. They've taken it too high up the head and not blended it at all well. I would expect something like that from a student practising the technique (on a head block) as it can take a while to master it properly.

I think you need to go back and ask them to put it right but with another colourist who has proven experience in doing balayage.

You can use foils but just to separate the section from the rest of the hair so that it doesn't bleed, usually if you've applied a different colour at the same time.

That's poor on their behalf if they're claiming knowledge in areas they obviously don't have! I would go back, show them and either ask them to fix it or get a refund!

Thank you, AcidPerm and JJH93! Apparently she's worked at another big city centre hairdressers and was appproaching 40 so I just assumed she would have been competent at this given the salon. If I get a refund it's going to cost double to fix I reckon so I might have to go to their other stylist :/ they haven't replied this morning so I will message again later for an update.

I think she probably hasn't done any courses in balayage as it's a recent trend. I would definitely get a refund if it was me, it's a lot of money to be left with something your unhappy with! Good luck!

She's their artistic director now as well  I hope no one else's hair gets ruined like this. I showed the pic on my phone and she looked at it then when I asked her if she was going to cool down the red tones in my brown she said yes, I've seen the picture you don't have to keep showing me, I know what I'm doing  I'll ask around how much it will cost to fix while I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Don't let them fanny about anymore and tell them you want a refund.

If you're anywhere near Parker and Dicce, save up your pennies and go there to get it fixed. You won't be disappointed.

They've offered to fix it tomorrow. Said I could go to the same woman (HA!) or the girl whose work I seen on Instagram and thought I was getting originally. Am I right in thinking I should wait as I only had bleach on it last week? They said they can sort it but I don't want to have to get loads cut off because it's been rushed. I swear, you go in to these places without your make-up on etc. and they think you're an eejit who'll be happy with anything, ridiculous.

Have you got any pics of the other girl's work? Are they hers or has she 'borrowed' them?

Here's one example, it was another woman I thought i was seeing actually but she seems like she might be able to fix it?

If you're sure that's her work then her fixing it would be much better :)

It is :) knowing my luck I'll get her on an off day, haha. Would it be advisable to wait though? They've said it's OK but I'm worried about the bleach and they didn't offer olaplex last time...

It really depends on the condition of the pre-lightened parts and whether she will miss them out rather than overlap
