Every year, in April, the Aveda team unite as part of Earth Month and raise money and awareness for the 768 million people around the world that still don't have access to clean water.
This year the Aveda Communications Team will be undertaking their annual 30 Day Yoga Challenge, with Yogic philosophy echoing that of Aveda and its Ayurvedic heritage. Working in partnership with Nahid de Belgeonne, Founder of Good Vibes Glow Yoga - Nahid will be personally guiding the team throughout the month and on-hand to offer expert advice on wellbeing, which the Aveda team will be sharing exclusively on Twitter @AvedaUK.
The money raised this year will go to Water Aid who will use the fund to support communities in Nepal, where nearly two thirds of the population dont have access to safe sanitation and also a specific womens empowerment project in Andhra Pradesh, India. In these communities a lack of safe water and sanitation has a devastating effect and women and children are particularly vulnerable - dirty water, poor sanitation and hygiene spread water-related diseases that can be fatal - with around 700,000 children every year dying from diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.
This unique month-long event, along with other activities, the UK Aveda network hopes to raise over £185,000 for UK charity partner WaterAid, as well as striving to a support a global target of £6,000,000.
Until then...geek on!
