The lovely people at Living Nature sure know how to make the most out of what New Zealand's natural world has to offer. Their Manuka Honey Gel has been developed over 25 years and remains their best selling product and now it's available for in-salon use and boy, has it been popular.

Living Nature suggest that you can use it as part of your facial for oily/combination and acne skin or after waxing and microdermabrasion treatments. The gel combines the therapeutic Active Manuka Honey with antimicrobial Manuka oil and the soothing qualities of Harakeke gel.

For a solution that is 100% natural, it's got super strength in fighting all manner of nasties. Redness, inflammation, rashes, irritations, blemishes, cuts, grazes, insect bites and sunburn are all helped by the healing magic of manuka. Add to that the fact that it hydrates, nourishes and protects skin and you can't really go wrong.

Oh, and it's got special healing powers as well. It's scientifically proven to stimulate wound healing and is used widely in hospitals to it's potent antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. It's ability to stimulate immune systems and provide essential nutrients for cell metabolism and rapid tissue repair makes it a necessary tool in any beauty therapists arsenal.

The Manuka oil has been revered by Maori people for centuries for its healing properties. It's antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic and modern research has confirmed that it's effective in combatting the micro-organisms that cause common skin irritations and imperfection. Recent studies at the Cawthorn Institute in New Zealand have proven that Manuka oil is effective against no less that 39 separate micro-organisms including the baddie bacteria that causes acne and MRSA.

In-salon, it's super useful for all manner of things. It's suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin and it's especially effective for erythema and excellent for problematic skin including that pesky acne and rosacea. It cools and calms sore, red, inflamed and irritated skin and nourishes and hydrates the epidermis.

Becca Teers of Therapy, a 5-room salon in East Dulwich, London says, "We have a bottle of Manuka Honey Gel in each treatment room and our therapists recommend it for everything from spots, break-outs and skin rashes to cuts, abrasions, bites and stings. However, the most popular use of this product is for ingrown hairs as the gel helps to draw out the hair naturally. It also possesses powerful antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties for calming any skin irritations and promoting healing."

Although I have never used this product, one of my very elderly clients had a really nasty very infected wound on her foot. After MONTHS of antibiotics, a new district nurse started to dress her wound after applying this honey. IT WAS REMARKABLE! The infection started to clear literally days after, and within a few weeks had almost cleared entirely.
