We all know Living Nature and the wonderful things they are doing with manuka honey, but now they want to get the word out about their other hero product: kumerharou. There is a lot of controversy surrounding the use of the synthetic cleansing and foaming agents sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulphate (SLES). These agents are commonly found in shampoos, shower gels and cleansers but have been linked to incidences of irritated skin and eyes and can strip the skin of its protective oils. There are also concerns over the possible long term effects of these chemicals being absorbed into the bloodstream.

Bearing all this in mind, many people are looking for natural alternatives and kumerahou, one of the world's most natural soaps, could just be the answer. Living Nature have been using this native New Zealand plant since the company's inception 25 years ago. Once referred to as the 'gum digger's soap', kumerahou naturally lathers by just rubbing the flowers and leaves together in water. The lathering properties are derived from natural surfactors known as saporins.

Saporins have gentle cleansing attributes that work without the alkali usually found in conventional soap. They mix well with oil and water making it a natural cleanser and they are also an important defence mechanism against microbial attacks meaning that it is nothing but healthy goodness for your skin. Saporins are also active against the pesky fungi that is associated with dandruff.

In a nutshell, kumerahou is gentle, kind and full of happy goodness for your skin. It doesn't break the skins moisture barrier and soothes skin locking moisture in to keep skin hydrated.

Living Nature is one of the first companies to produce skincare without the use of synthetic preservatives or parabens and is a leading force in the natural beauty industry. The company is a prime mover in innovation and uses cutting edge technological advances to meet worldwide demand for 100% natural products. Add to this the fact that Living Nature remains true to its green ethics ensuring that it only uses kumerahou from sustainable sources, hand pick the flowers and leaves and prepares a fresh tincture of kumerahou for each product production batch. Basically, you've got a company that is dedicated to not just looking after you but after the planet as well.

Kumerahou is used in a range of products including their purifying cleanser, vitalising cleanser, gentle make up remover, gentle cleaning shaving gel, purifying hand wash, refreshing body wash, balancing shampoo and nourishing shampoo.

All products use 100% natural preservatives, fragrances and ingredients and all products are certified by BDIH Germany and endorsed by Breast Cancer Network New Zealand. The company is also listed by the Skin Deep Safety Database as a Safe Cosmetic Champion.
