Hi all, at the moment I not making a huge amount of money from my business. I have one employee who earns roughly £200 a week that I have to have there as I have a young baby so only work part time and am pregnant again. She is fantastic and I very pleased with her.
However our weeks seem to be so up and down (especially this time of the year) e.g last week we made a total of £650 but this week only £320!! So on these quieter weeks I am basically making no money by the time to deduct wages and stock etc. through the year it usually does balance up but we always have quiet days (especially tuesday and Wednesday) I have put offers on these days - buy 1 get 1 half price waxing and hand and foot treatments - but it doesn't make a huge difference.
I've also noticed that we retain clients well but don't seem to get new clients regularly.
I'm thinking of doing a big leaflet drop with a promo maybe especially as there is a new salon opening in the same town soon. Has anyone got any ideas that could help? I'm starting to worry a bit now! xxx

I am mobile so don't have any salon experience but have you tried trialling some different offers? I'm still in the process of trialling different offers for different treatments etc and have found some offers work really well and can fill up an empty week just like that but others get Absolutley no interest :/
You could try a refer a friend scheme with your existing clients to bring in some new ones?
Advertise your special offer on the radio 😊 x

First thing if it is a thing that you are managing to keep your clients coming back to you that is great - well done ,as this is key to a long term sustainable business. I don't advise people to run constant offers as it devalues your service and makes it hard for you to grow your business in the long run - in saying that I do understand it is a useful tool when it comes to attracting new customers - but if all your discounts are doing is causing existing clients to come back to you - you are shooting yourself in the foot a wee bit and it will have a knock on effect. To attract new customers why not offer a bring a friend for free for a very limited time offer - so you are getting a full price payment and doing one for free, which is a 50% discount and not something you want to run long term - but if you did say every Tuesday for a month (or whatever your quite day is) it will help grow your client list and bring back another client - T&Cs must include the friend who goes free must be a new client to your salon. Ongoing you could have a refer a friend bonus scheme where clients earn points for every friend the refer who books and these treat points can add up to be used against a new treatment the client has yet to experience (don't use it for treatments they already pay for). If you feel you HAVE to run discounts to keep clients interested, take a step back and look at how you can change this, as you will never have a good profit if you continue this way - turnover might look healthy but really it is profit you should be concerned with. Value adding is the best way to go - work a cost of an additional taster treatment into facials or a free brow tidy with lash lift and look to sell up sell to a full brow treatment such as HD or BDB or whatever you offer for their next treatment - and get them to book in there and then. Make sure you know the exact cost of what each treatment and offer costs you and work out ways you can upsell and rebook to recoup some of these costs. Planning and implement strategies like this will improve your business and profit - discounting is only a short term fix and becomes a viscous cycle that is hard to break. Best of luck x

How do you advertise your business at the moment? Website, social media, linking with another business?

Whereabouts are you? High Street or off the beaten track?

Recommend a friend is a great idea.

Also check out some of Lynne Baker's threads in the search bar. She has some wonderful ideas on advertising xx

How long have you been open?

Have you seen an overall average increase in profit throughout the time you've been opened?

What does you salon specialise in or what does it do to a fabulous standard that makes it stand out (unique selling point)?
