Hi Geeks,

Ive been mobile for a while now and was using Eve Taylor skincare range, which i absolutely love.

I've just started renting a room in a salon, its a new salon without a huge client base and the salon owner is being very good to me regarding rent. My contract is for 3 months so i'm just seeing how things go...going pretty well so far.

I do have a huge problem though, the salon owner uses a direct selling company to purchase her products, skincare range, makeup range, vitamins etc. I tried the skincare range out on myself. I couldn't use and promote a range without using them myself after all.

I used it for a week and my face suffered quite badly. I'm still suffering a week on. The last time this happened to my face was at college with Priadara products, tightness, stinging, really high colour on my cheeks. not good at all. A client had bought the range too and has brought it back as she had a bad reaction to it.

Anyway, i've tried to sway her onto Eve Taylor but she seems adamant on staying with this type of company due to the money she gets back?! I've shown her how you can make money back on Eve Taylor retail products but i don't think she's interested at all. She has said the direct selling company has brought out another range of skincare so she's going to try that.

Any suggestions on what i could say to her to encourage a change? she is lovely but seems very keen on keeping things as they are. I just feel really disapointed with the range im having to use. :irked:

Thanks Geeks xx

If your renting a room, generally you use your own products. I don't understand why you are using hers?

This is what i'd like to do, I do use all my other products after all, and this is what i have suggested to her but she wants the salon to use these products from the direct selling company so she can sell them and get money back from them. I don't fully understand direct selling.

The range is promoted in the reception area, so would be a complete change if we/i used another skin care range.

we use eve taylor at college and its such a lovely brand to work with...get her to try out the products and suggest to her that she has a trial period to try them on clients and see the client's feedback on which skincare they prefer

With direct selling you make a profit in 2 ways. First with retail and second with a turnover bonus e.g 30% profit then an approx bonus of say 10% depending on which level she is in with the company. The more product that goes through her name/team the higher up the marketing plan she will get. The bonus is generally a reward for looking after your team. This is my understanding of it anyway.
Obviously if she can get you to use the products too (regardless of if you sign up or she buys the products) there will be more turnover which usually means a higher bonus.
Hope that makes sense .
Direct Selling isn't a bad system, but nobody should be pressurised into using the products or signing up. Some people just get a bit focussed on the numbers xx

Meant to add, if you have reacted to the products then you are in no position to really recommend them.
Stick to your guns xx

Thanks for the replies, and for the info Jenx, I guess its appealing to some people, but not me really...apparently we have one of the higher-up people coming in tomorrow, she's not supposed to be very nice, this doesnt suprise me!

Pretty in pink - she did call up Eve Taylor to ask for some samples to try, i though this would make her see how nice they were. They did arrive this morning but only send a solar oil and hand cream i think...so she was a bit disappointed with that :irked:

I'm going to bring some of mine in for her to try out...but i dont think she is particularly bothered about how effective or nice they are or how nice they smell....

shes got to think of the quailty of the products shes using on her clients...i think thats maybe best then she can see a wider range of what they offer

I totally agree with you there hun, but she's not beauty trained so doesn't understand the importance of this. x
