Ive been having a little trouble getting my l&p really smooth on the nail, it generally looks ok when I do the french tip but when I use a coloured polish you can see little bumps and ridges.

So I watched a few videoes online and many techs use a brush which is much flatter at the end whilst my brush is an oval shape. So I am now wondering if this helps a smoother application?

Also in these videos Ive seen techs do all three zones, most do two and some use one ball to cover the whole zone. I was thinking about trying these methods but only if it is an accepted way of applying acrylic.

What do you think?

im no expert hun but I was tought by creative to apply acrylic into 3 zones in order to give the nail shape and strength.
Can you not buff out any bumps ect?

I use a number 8 crimped oval brush and don't have problems, in fact I love my brush:D
No I wouldn't start changing how many beads you use. just persevere, your application will get smother which will mean your filing will get less but thats what you need to concentrate on at the moment. Its your filing that should give you your final shape and smoothness.
In your place I would book a 121 with my trainer so that someone in the know could look over my shoulder and improve my technique. I've done that and IMO the money I spent was repaid within the first 20 mins
