Hey guys i'm new to this so please be nice lol i have been following some of the threads on here for a couple of weeks now and wanted to ask someone out there who may know a question?
I'm due to sit an NVQ Level 2 Facial Exam soon and i am revising i came across a question that i cant answer just to be sure i don't want the answer just some pointers if possible as i said i came across a revision question that i cannot seem to find an answer for i have completed all the other questions is the revision except this ok so i'm going to post the question......

The questions is:
How would you adapt your massage technique to suit the following skin types:
Oily, dry, mature, young???????????????????????????????????????????????????

If someone could please give me some advice or possibly some pointers i would be very happy.

Thanks SJ

I presume you would need to be thinking of massage medium, the difference in thickness & sensitivity of old & young skins etc etc.

Thinking back, I think its to do with the movements you use. With someone with older skin would you do more or less pettrisage/effluerage/tapotment? What about a younger client, would u do more stimulating massage to help penetrate the product or would this encourage sebum production. An older client with less elasticity in the skin, would need more stimulus, but you would have to be careful of dragging the skin. Hope this helps :D

I think they are def looking for the massage medium used and also the massage movements....for instance, someone with dry skin would need a cream as opposed to a lotion etc... and as above increasing tapotement to temporary tone skin with less muscle tone! Loraine Nordman book is fantastic for NVQ 2 and has all the info in there. Our college library loaned this out or you may be able to pick it up from e-bay used. The level 2 has a bright yellow cover and level 3 is pink
