One of the hardest things about running a business is managing your staff. Great, innovative and inspiring hairdressers don't always make great salon owners because managing people is sometimes tough to get right.

Antony Whitaker is the ultimate educator and motivator, with a worldwide reputation based on more than 30 years' experience in the hairdressing industry. Recently, however, he has swapped his scissors for a pen, releasing the first three books in his highly acclaimed GROW series.

The books aim to set a new benchmark of business excellence for hairdressers. The most recent instalment of the serious focuses on what it takes to build and be part of a great team, released in January 2014, has been an instant success. Giving great, practical and easily implemented advice, the book is a must-have for any salon owner wanting to strengthen their team.

Originally from New Zealand, Antony moved to London and took a job with Vidal Sassoon after completing his hairdressing apprenticeship in 1980. It wasn't long before he moved from stylist to staff trainer, eventually becoming creative director before, in 1989, heading back to the southern hemisphere in search of fresh challenges.

He opened the first Antony Whitaker salons in Australia, which soon gained a name for excellence in hairdressing and second-to-none service and training. He was twice named Hairdresser of the Year and picked up a clutch of other titles for team-building, salon design and marketing, education and photography, cementing his reputation as a first class hairdresser, trainer and businessman.

He sold the salons in 1999 to focus on his consultancy work and travelled around the world as an educator and motivational speaker and has since been developing his trademark no-nonsense style of inspirational business education. He has taken his message on management, money, marketing, team-building and retailing to more than 250,000 hairdressers in more than 40 countries.

So, if you are looking for something or someone to help you manage your team then Antony's new book needs to be added to your wishlist. Get yourself to Antony's website Our mission is to make salon businesses more successful | growmysalonbusiness.com and get your copy today.
