Hi there, im currently doing a home study extension course for acrylics, but ive heard about the CND conversion course you can do, is this true & is it worth doing? Please help!! :D

Hi everyone,

I trained with EN and then did a conversion with NSI, does anyone know if it's possible for me to ever do a conversion with CND, or would I have to do a foundation course? I've heard so much about how good CND products are, I would really like to try them but can't buy because I haven't trained with them.

Thanks!

I think it would be best to give them a call to make sure but i'm fairly sure you cant. You would need to do a foundation course with them as they dont recognise the home learn qualifications.

I'm no expert on the subject but i know that you cant normally open a secondary account (an account that allows you to buy all products apart from the enhancement products such as liquid and powder etc) with just an EN qualification.

Still, be best to call them and ask, i'm sure they would be more than happy to give you all the details of what you would need to do if you would like to use the CND products xxxx

RING 0845 2106060 and ask to speak to an Academy Advisor re your own circumstances. It may very well be that you are eligible but doing an EN course and then a conversion may not have filled in all the gaps that are missing from your education which are covered on the CND foundation course. Then again you may be just fine. Only way to find out is over the phone with an AA. The AA'a are very welcoming and easy to talk to and are not there to hard sell you courses but to advise you ... the path you take is up to you.

Hi Kirsty,

I was wondering the same thing myself today so I rang and was told I may be able to do an assessment to see if I needed to do a foundation course or not. Ive been working for 18 months and have a good client base so I think it depends on the individual situation. I was given a numbetr to call and find out what I need to so but it was school run time so thats as far as Ive got today. I will let you know how I get om tom hun. xxx

Thanks Geeg, I'll call them first thing in the morning. I hope I can do a conversion because I'm fairly sure a foundation course it out of the question for now. Fingers crossed.

Hi hun,

I did a home study course and I wanted to do the CND conversion but they dont see home study courses as recognised qualifications! So you may need to do the foundation course anyway! In my personal opinion sadly home study courses are not worth the paper they are written on!!!

Who are you doing yours with?

I have been trading for 18 months prior to learning this so I may be able to do the conversion with a pre assesment - Ive yet to find out for sure, if not then I will have to sit the foundation too! So annoying! xxxx

Everyone is an individual and each person and their circumstances is treated as one. They will be happy to talk you through it all.

I will probably get shot down for this reply, actually, i KNOW I will, however, I have done both courses.......... I was totally ashamed to admit in this forum that I had anything to do with an essential nails course.

I was struggling with the EN course on the application of the product and had read the posts on here and also read the tutorials plus bought a copy of nailclass (I have already completed a couple of gel courses, the first one with EN followed by a conversion course). I didn't submit my En course that I had paid so much money for because I read all the posts on here and i want my nails to be perfect or as near as i can achieve.

I went on my cnd course which I took a loan out for I must admit and was sooooooooooooooooo excited I was beside myself, the educator was gonna take one look at what I was doing and tell me what I was doing wrong - right?!

These are my findings., I stuggled with mix ratio as i know every one new to l&p does but the first thing the tutor told me was they couldn't teach me that. The cnd course had gaps that were more than filled in by EN. Firstly, the manual and DVD, the manual with EN is a perfect bound 200 and odd page document as opposed to a 40 page leaflet and covers ALL nail disorders aswell as a through step by step. Tip sizing is covered showing you how to customise your tip - on my cnd course I was not shown how to reduce the tip - infact my tutor applied the oversized tips to the nail trainer with a big overhang either side. Blending was not covered in the way it was on the EN course, I was shown once and not talked through and the cnd course I was shown to use a coarse grit all the way I was not shown how to hold the file correctly or the finger and i was not told how to even use the file in the correct way which again i was on the EN course (be that the right or wrong way). On application which is what I was really struggling with I was repeatedly told to get my brush handle to the ceiling in zone 3.

I went home for my practice days and was really disspointed, no one had a zone 3 and I couldn't understand it! I went back for day 4 and was quickly shown a rebalance, which I couldn't do, I was reminded of the time all afternoon and was near tears when I left - didnt get a day 5 cos it was deemed not necessary as there were only 4 in the class. I got home and read the manual and nailclass again and no wonder i didnt have a zone 3.

Maybe i'm rambling and perhaps i'm a slow learner but I wanted to do this course soooo bad for so long and am so let down. I have sat for days looking at the cnd vidoes and my nails are much improved. That said I should have watched the videos, completed my EN course and read nailclass - saved a fortune in interested charges on my loan!

Thanks for the posts :D, but im think im even more confussed now!! im half way through my EN acrylics course but really thought CND was the way!!
Maybe i'll just call that number & see what advise they can give me :?: !!!

That is not my experience of the CND Foundation Course. We learnt how to judge our mix ratio, as well as how to size and blend tips in detail. We had things demonstrated to us as well as being watched and corrected by our Educator. Our application was watched and corrected etc etc.

If that is your experience you need to speak to Sweet Squared, talk to Debbie Davis. That is not how the Foundation is and S2 need to know if that is how yours was.

OP, CND is better that EN in so many ways. The 2 ways of learning are not comparable.

Hth's

S2 are now dealing with this enquiry in house as it should be.

As everyone knows, this is a very unusual experience for anyone on a CND course and S2 take complaints like this VERY seriously. Everything will be done to enquire into the allegations made by the poster and to help this student to receive the education and the experience she deserves.

And to the original poster, you can be well assured as always of a great education experience with CND and please give them a call 08452106060.

I am feeling a little foolish for posting in frustration last night as this is clearly an isolated incident and it is apparant from all your posts that it is far from the norm. I have been on the phone with S2 who I have to admit have been fantastic and are working to resolve things for me - I can't wait to feel as enthusiastic as everyone else using cnd products and training.

From my conversations with S2 I feel confident my issues will be resolved and that I have indeed chosen the right educator.

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused to any of the posters

I have been a qualified tech for 3.5 years and recently decided I wanted to have the "Creative" certificate too. I called the academy who were really helpful. They do not recognise my qual but said I could either do the Foundation course or the Conversion day but bearing in mind if i did the latter and didn't meet the CND exacting standards then i may have to take some one on one tutorials (which you pay for) which is the Option I have taken. I got the CND training DVD to see how they train and found this very useful. Nothing I don't already know but reminded me of a few things i have forgotten, kicked me out of one of my bad habits and I have started to use different files and my results are much better.

Do give the academy a call...I am really looking forward to my "conversion" next month

I will give them a call to see where my next step is. I wish i had disscovered this site before i had started the EN course.
Any idea roughly how much the CND course's are as ive already spent so much with EN  !!

I can't remember off the top of my head but the conversion is just under £120 but you get £190 worth of kit for that so a bargain. Then i think one on ones are £25ish which will still work out cheaper than the foundation course which is quite a bit more
