Only you know if your prices are right. A lot comes down to location, a lot comes down to how much you really want to earn, a lot comes down to how hard you want to work.

Imagine charging £20 for a fullset for example, you'd have to work twice as hard and find twice as many new clients as someone who charges £40 a set.

yeah i had`bnt thought of it like that but i thought an opening offer wouldv been a good idea? do you then or is it too cheap i want an opening offer to go on my leaflets too what do you suggest then HELP!!!

instead of offering discounts why not offer an incentive program. i.e. have five full price treatments and get £5.00 off the sixth.

Hope i've helped x

Offers are okay, but often you tend to attract the wrong type of client. You either get the one offs who have it for a special occasion, or the ship jumpers who will leave you as soon as someone else in your area has an offer. It does help to pay the bills short term, but long term you will just have to keep advertising more and more.

I've tried offers on a fullset and free infills, all that happened is they had the free fills and never came back. I've tried 25% discount, but then would they have come if I'd charged full whack?

Your pricing seems a bit erratic. eg an eyelash perm takes the same time as an eyelash perm and tint, so why not just do a perm with a "free" tint. An eyebrow shape takes about 20 mins, so if you did 3 in a row you'd take £18. You charge only £10 for a makeup lesson which takes about an hour, which is far more skilful and has far more service value than an eyebrow shape.

Can you see where I am coming from? There doesn't seem to be any real reasoning behind your pricing structure. HTH

If you do a leaflet then KISS (keep it stupid simple). People only really scan a leaflet so it has to have a headline to grab attention, and very few words. Next time you get one through the door, see how much of it you actually read.

Sassy is so right! I have just started renting and i am charging 25 quid for a full set because i am not proud of my work just yet. Nearly all of my clients have loved their nails i have done but i only have a few regulars that come back for infillsetc. I know most of them came because i was so cheap, some of them have told me. So they dont really care about them. If i were you take sassys advice and put some thought into your pricing. I am gonna sort myself out real soon too!!

Always set your prices on the higher end, it's so much easier to bring them down if you have to. It's damned difficult to put them up.

Take a look at my thread "work harder not smarter" it shows you how to calculate your pricing, based on your overheads, your hourly rate, and any added value a service provides. The easiest way to do it is to decide how much you want to take an hour, say £20, so if a service take 15 mins you charge £5, 30 mins £10, 45 mins £15 and £20 for an hour and so on. It's a very simplistic way to calculate your prices and definitely not the best, but it's the easiest and most methodical.

thanks for the help im gonna have to sit down properly & work out what to charge whats the best way to work it out do you think howd you judge whats a good price?

Thanks sooo much thats a great help where will i find the thread you mention? it`s deff better than as you say eratic which is quite true coz i am doing a lotta guess work which is not good should i do an opening offer then do you think or not coz i don`t really feel that confident when im doing nail enhancements atall gonna do more training with creative but in the meantime i can do them but they still come off & i don`t really want that when i do clients for real what do you suggest i do?

Kate:?:

You'll find the thread in the main forum. By all means do an opening offer, but do a discounted price like you've put, but set a time limit on it ie until the end of October.

Thanks for your help

Kate:biggrin:

You ONLy do your offers in quiet times! Why discount when it's busy, there's just no need!

You're not stupid hun, just inexperienced. I'm lucky with my previous background. Some of the jobs I have done I really hated, but it all helped to give me the experience to give me the knowledge of how to run a business. I just wish I wasn't such a spendaholic!

Take the time to get you prices right, it really is a pain in the arse to do, but so worth getting it right if you want to earn a living from your job. let me know if I can be of any more help.
