Dark purple to neutral brown

Hi,
I have a client whose hair colour is similar to matrix 4VR.. She wants it to be a neutral dark brown.. Would I be ok to put 4G over the top?
Or would there be a better solution?

I wouldn't. I would do a simple bleach bath. Or a low peroxide decolourisation first. Just to remove the red and purple tone. Not for long and not to lighten the hair just to release the pigments xxx

I don't really do an awful lot of colour correction! xx
