Different between subletting and commission base Aesthetic person

I have a salon and now got someone starting as an aesthetic therapist, we are aiming to agree on a commission based terms, so I am looking to determine whether the aesthetic therapist would be considered as my staff or if it would be considered subletting the room? and what are the pros and cons please.
