Hi Am hoping for some advise please, heres my dilema..........

I have been working as a therapist for 15 years, i went part time 5 years ago after having my children, and have worked in the same salon for those 5 years, I love my job and like the salon,
but....., I do more late nights than anyone else, i do a wider range of treatments, specialist treatments and take more money into the salon than the other 2 therapists, I have recently found out that 1 girl straight out of college is on only 50p less than me and the other girl who has 3 years experience is on 50p more.
I am seriously considering ditching the salon job and going fully mobile but am worried about being able to draw enough clients in to cover expensive children!
I have booked out a meeting with my boss to discus this ( without being able to mention the other girls earnings) how would you go about this??:|

If it was me ..... Is just go in an say exactly what you have just said and ask for an increase!

Do.you have an annual increase*??;

I would say exactly this to your boss:

"I do more late nights than anyone else, i do a wider range of treatments, specialist treatments and take more money into the salon than the other 2 therapists"

Explain what it is that you feel needs to change; hours, money etc and see what the reply is and go from there.

I know you feel you should be getting a lot more than the other girls, so you need to find out if your boss is willing or can afford to pay you more.

Would another salon pay you more? Are you in the right payment bracket for your area? Running costs of a salon is high so it might be too much for your boss to pay you the rate you desire.

Why don't you allocate a certain amount of time each week to building your business and gaining clients, then leave the salon when you have built your own business enough.

You clearly have the beauty skills and people skills for clients to return.

Just seen the extra posts. You don't ask you don't get sometimes. Ask.

Good luck :) x
