hmmmmmmmmmm, just found a cheque for work that I did and its dated July, I've paid it into my ISA today but don't know whether it will be recalled.
How long can you keep cheques for?

Well it always used to be 6 months; but I have a feeling it could be 3 nowadays.

They definitely do become unusable if not presented within a certain time frame.

J xx

will have to wait and see then. Its gone into the account, so I suppose the till person could have said something there and then.

silly me!

and yes, 10 airports in one week is a tad much!

Im sure its 6 months too ,I used to work in a cash office and we used to find old cheques tucked away in the card reciepts and would send them off to be banked way down the line.

Do you know the clients details, might of been worth letting them know before you cashed it in if you do ?

yes could give them a ring, its acutally a non-profit making organisation that I did a pile of work for in the summer.

Hey, you have 6months from the date on the cheque to cash it. After this date its called a "stale cheque" - Although, the bank may still honor it after the 6months. Depends on the person in the bank i suppose.. and their mood! it should defo be ok now tho!
hth :)

I asked about this a few months ago at the bank and was also told 6 months
