Hi I am a Nail Technician and also do waxing and spray tanning. I have been asked to take on facials and to use the Elemis range. Does anyone know whether I will need to be trained in facials before I receive my Elemis training? Or will the Elemis training be enough?

I cant comment on the Elemis Range but when I contacted a few other companies they insisted that I had to have done at least a NVQ before I was able to use any of there products.

Some companies will insist o NVQ level 3 qualifications. But to be honest, how could you possibly offer a service to a paying client without training? There is so much that you need to learn about the skin, its conditions and types, contra-indications, contra-actions etc etc. The Elemis training will primarily be just product training, you will need to already have your underlying knowledge in place first.

Many thanks for your replies, I thought I would have to but didn't know if these companies did more involved training like some tanning companies and nail companies do. I just get a bit fed up having to pay out on a kit with training only to immediatley replace it on another expensive training course.

you will definetly have to have training. but don't worry, I haven't got an NVQ but did 2 x 1 day courses, and both professional skincare range companies took me on with those.

I did a holistic facial course which I got insurance for, then did another 1 day course (by choice) which is recognised by The Guild.
