The Habia Skills Academy (HSA) had announced a new series of hair courses for 2013, as well as training discounts worth hundreds of pounds for State Registered Hairdressers (SRH) from founder sponsor VTCT.

New for 2013 is the Specialist Hair and Scalp Treatments Course led by Iain Sallis M.I.T - the UK's only hospital based trichologist. Designed to give educators a deeper understanding of the hair and scalp and the skills to recognise disorders, the course is sponsored by Philip Kingsley and runs over two days.

In addition, a £25 discount is available for State Registered Hairdressers (SRHs) who book before 15 February 2013.

There will also be the return of popular courses including Level 3 Hair Extension Services - now open to hairdressers with Level 2 qualifications - Level 4 Male Grooming, Level 2 Qualification in All Hair Types (inc. African Type Hair units) (Course 1), and Level 2 Qualification in Relaxing All Hair Types (Course 2).

Locations and course start dates up to April 2013 are:
  • Level 3 Hair Extension Services - Birmingham - 24 February 2013
  • Level 4 Male Grooming - Leicester - 4th March 2013
  • Level 2 Qualification in All Hair Types (including African Hair Types) (Course 1) - TBC - 10th March 2013 & 14th April 2013
  • Specialist Hair and Scalp Treatment Course - Doncaster - 11th March

Mike Taylor, Director of the British Barbering Association (BBA), which is supporting the Level 4 Male Grooming course, said, "Re-establishing true barbering and male grooming skills so that salons can meet growing demand from male clients is a key objective of the BBA. It is only by educating those who educate others - and recognising that barbering and male grooming is a separate discipline to hairdressing - that the BBA and the HSA will be able to ensure that those skills are not just preserved but encouraged in future generations."

To help with costs, the HSA's founder sponsor, VTCT, is offering discounts of up to 25 percent of the course value for SRHs. That means a £200 saving on the Level 3 Hair Extension Service course, a £262.50 saving on the All Hair Types (including African Type Hair units) (Course 1), a saving of £139.00 on the Relaxing All Hair Types (Course 2), and a huge saving of £350 on Level 4 Male Grooming - still the only male grooming course at this level available in the UK.

All participants who achieve the required standards on each course receive a HSA completion certificate and can apply for certification from awarding organisation VTCT.

More information on all the courses, including costs and sponsor details, is available at Habia Skills Academy / Educators / Educator Training Courses.

Until then...geek on!
