I am going to start doing nails out of my home and hope my buisness will grow but now I am my only client. I don't wan to waste my mony on a pc of garbage but I don't want o invest too much either as I do not know if I will have a lot of clients or not. Please let me know what you recommend. Thanks.

hi i work from home and yes it's hard starting off but i wouldn't go buying an efile just if you dont have any clients....

why not just use a hand file and when you have a good few clients and you know things are picking up then buy an efile cos the are pricey.....

hope that helps:)

Hi love,

I bought an e-file when I was just starting out so that I could practice on myself and master it before I got busy and before I used it on anyone else. Granted, I damaged my nails a lot in the beginning as there was no formal training on it then - but I wanted to make sure I knew how much pressure, etc to use and who better to test it out on than myself?

I would most definately recommend formal training - why hurt yourself when you don't have to?!

I use a mani-pro now and I love it. Its a great beginner e-file and only goes up to 15,000 rpm. I have used this type for a long time and I don't feel any need to go up to a "better" e-file as I am comfortable with the speed of this file and I don't feel the need to use any higher rpms.

Hope this helps

well i'm sure any one will tell you it is hard but i've had a lot of pratice and before efiles came out all you had was a file and we managed fine then. :irked:

i can file down the white down just as well by hand as i can with an efile and the back of the pink, its all the same to me:), but i have been doing this years so...... what can i say give it a go on yourself like the other geek said and see what happens.... but let me know how you get on

Filing a new smile line with and e-file is much easier but for re-fills near the cuticle i think i preffer using hand file. I think you have more control using hand file on the natural nail than doing it with e-file if you see what i mean. And since you're jus strating I realy would recommend using a hand file all together. What you gonna do if your e-file breakes down.
So all in all, i suggest you stick to hand file for now, and when you get more clients you can then get an e-file to cut down on time.

Welcome to the wonderful world of nails. I would recommend that you invest in quality education and quality hand files before an e-file. IMO with good filing techniques hand filing is a very fast and effective way of reducing enhancements. I have an e-file, however I do not use it very much as I dislike the fine airborne dust particles it creates.

There are ways to combat the fine dust created by an e-file. I use Electric Slyde e-file oil as it cushions the cuticle, reduces friction and virtually eliminates dust.

I do agree though, that you must become proficient in hand file technique before you start to use an e-file on clients.
