Hi all, need some advice please, i have 2 assemments left at college untill i pass Level 3 beauty, in epilation i need to do Galvanic i just cant seem to reach my working point i know you start on 5 sec for this and i have been up to almost 8 sec and 65 and the hairs were still not coming out is it because the clients skin was too dry? i feel this is quite high to go up to im ok with diathermy and blend but i seem to be struggling with galvanic what can i go up to? and how many seconds i want to pass next week i know it depends on moisture of skin with galvanic maybe that was the problem but any advice is appreaciated i dont want to cause any blanching to anyone although the client was comfterble i suppose im scared of increasing intensity in epilation incase i blanch a client any advice is welmome we are using the sterex machine xx:eek:

Hi,

I've just finished my level 3 too.

With Galvanic we started at 10 seconds and increased the intensity until the hairs came out, within the clients pain threshold of course. You can also 'treat and leave' the hairs to let the lye work a bit longer before you try and pull it out.

Hope this helps, i'm not an electrolysis expert so i'm sure someone else can give a better or more thorough answer!

Good answer. . .
when I did Sterex (blend and) galvanic training they said the same ie 10 seconds. If you have to go over 65 intensity, increase by 5 each time, and see how your client feels and how the skin is reacting.
In the salon I would carefully monitor the client for the first few weeks of treatment to see how their skin is healing, how long it takes for the redness to die down after treatment etc.
And yes, leaving the hairs for a little while to let the lye take effect is another alternative. From what I remember you need to treat 5 hairs or so, leave them in the skin, then go back and remove them with your tweezers, before carrying on to treat the next few hairs.
Remember - although it's great that you are being cautious, skin is fairly resilient and as long as you increase the current gradually and probe accurately you won't have any problems.
Good luck x
