Hi there,

I have doing fake bake spray tanning for well over a year and i have just had a client that was in earlier today say that she has had a shower and has turned green. What would have caused this? Any help would be appreciated!

Just had a thought back to today. I had sent my client home to shower when she came in as she had moisturised before she came for her tan. I told her this would act as a barrier etc so off she went. I think that maybe there was still moisturiser still on her skin. She is isn't all green just patches under her arms on her belly button and a stripe on her legs. I am thinking that it could be down to excess sweating as it was VERY hot here today or she had cream still on her skin that she had not washed off properly. I used the same solution yesterday and it was fine. Its not been kept in a hot place. It was a brand new bottle. Can anyone shed some light am i right?

Cheers.

It's really common for tan to go green if clients have deodorant on. It always amazes me that when you ask your client 'right...you have no deodrant on...etc?' They say 'Oh no' and you know they are clearly lying!
I think you are right...the patches could be down to sweat. Either that or tight fitting clothes. But sweat shouldn't turn this green.
Has she washed it off yet or is it still developing?

My client has washed it off, she said it was really green before she showered but its not so green now just more dirty. I have had a few girls that say the same thing @no, i have no deodorant or perfume etc' and yes they go green in those areas when you spray them but they usually wash off and its fine. I am going to see her at her work in the morning so i will be able to have a good look. I have never had anything like like this beofre and i have been doing this for years now! Still baffled lol.

Thats strange. It shouldnt be still green when she has washed it off. Maybe she hasn't done that properly either. Advise her to wash again in the morning before she see's you.
Sometimes they make it sound worse than it is I think, so dont worry until you get there.
Let me know what happens xxx

i called her when she text me and said to have another shower in the morning. I asked her if she had waited till the water had run clear first before applying anything on her skin and she replied yes. Hopefully it will be fine tomorrow. I will let you know after a i go and see her.

Thanks for your help girls!

Just come back from seeing my client and there is no green tinge at all. She had another shower this morning and its fine. There must have been some product left on her skin. Thank god for that i was really worried as i have never had this happen before:)

How old is this solution......it sounds like the colours have started to break down.....either shelf life up or it has been left to get very warm.

If the green hue is all over I would hazzard a guess this is what it is.....It can sometims look a dirty olive green colour....it tends to happen with old solution or solution that has broken down if left to get hot. It still turns them brown but just doesnlt look pleasent when wearing the colour guide.

If it the brighter greens just where purfume or deodrant is then you know its just the chemical reaction.
