I’m in Australia but I imagine it’s not that different. I currently work in admin in an office and I’m 47 but I love hair and beauty and I’m seriously wanting a career change. I have kids so I can’t quit my part time office job. I’m starting a non-accredited one day per week hairdressing course (run from an academy which is also a salon) to see if I like it and if I do I’ll enrol in their 12 month fast track govt accredited hairdressing course. BUT I keep reading that it’s so hard to get a job after doing a fast track course. So I’m totally confused what to do, I can’t afford an apprentice wage and not many salons take on mature age apprentices anyway.

If I work my butt off during my course and get at least some of the skills could I get work in the industry? I don’t want to waste my precious money otherwise!
