Hi

I'm looking for some advice.. serious advice please!

So back in Oct 16 I finally have enough pennies to train in hair extensions which was something I had always wanted to specialise in since I was about 16.

I'm so passionate about hairdressing and to me I thought it would be a great investment and a good way to be able to work for myself as I have children and haven't been working in a salon for a while due to being crippled by childcare costs!

I have now been advertising for a few months and had nothing I haven't even had people willing to be models (including friends and family!) all I have to reference my work are before and after photos of my block head..

I have paid out a fair amount of money on advertising, insurance, training, colour rings etc. So I don't want to give up this early (been advertising since Dec 2016) but it dawned on me the other day- whenever I see wanted advertisements on Facebook or anywhere else there's literally hundreds of hair extension techs in the area replying to it.. I feel like I've got no hope and that it's a way too oversaturated market in this area?

I've tried to stay positive and really get out there to make a name for myself and gain a good reputation but I never thought it would be this hard! I have one consultation booked for later this month.. apart from that I'm seriously considering giving it all up as I won't be relocating anytime soon

What would you do? Please be kind lol xx

Don't give up!!
I did my course in Feb and things have been very slow. In my area there seems to be 4 names which crop up all the time and on their business page they literally have 100's of likes and comments. One of the ladies has only been going since October!!
Keep pushing your Facebook page, ask friends and family to like and share for you.
If your friends and family don't want extensions, could you possibly buy some cheap ones and just fit them for the purpose of photos and then take them out?
Try mums at school too. You could do a 'offer' for school mums?
I am getting a few enquiries but Iv only had one fit which I did for free! Have another next week which I'm charging quite a bit less than I should and she's aware that it's a one off discount and the price will go up. I'm hopefully going to get some business cards done which I will take with me to some toddler groups and ask if I can leave them at the front. I'm also getting my company name and mobile number sign written on my car (OH is a tradesman and big believer in sign writing and it's worth)
Defo don't give up. Keep plugging x

Thank you sweet, it's comforting to know There are others in the same boat..

I never even thought of doing exclusive offers so that's a really good idea to try, and I've also just asked my mum if I can fit some just to take some before and afters and she has agreed Good old mums, eh! Xx
