I've been using soak off gel for a couple of months now and I've got clients who want their nails short all the time, they like the "I care about my nails but dont actually want to do anything about them" look. One is a massage therapist.

My question is can they file their own nails between appointments without lifting occuring. Im really worried that as soon as they break the seal on the free edge the product will lift. They come back every 3 weeks so cant go that long before filing.

Can anyone tell me the answer for definate or is it a suck it and see kind of situation.

Thanks

An obvious answer for me is why dont you cut them and file them shorter because as you know the gel will strengthen the natural nail enabling it to grow, it just makes sense to me...

I have had a client who has filed around but that was with the nail file I gave her. She was alright but she does wear gloves etc and is seen every 3-4 weeks

It will also depend on how the client will file....hard and fast or thoughtful and slow...do they take notice of the aftercare advice?

Why dont you try it....I thinki I may try it to......:)I think its pot luck to be honest but alot easier if they are shorter to start with in your case scenario

Do you give them the file to take away with them?

The one particular client (Massage therapist) Im thinking of has her nails really short at all times. When she comes her free edge doesnt show over her finger tips and thats how she needs to keep them. Her nails arent strong and flake easily, so she loves the clear gel but cant go 3 weeks without filing.

I havent given her a file, but I think thats a good idea to try, also to show her exactly how to file. Im sure she wouldnt mind me using her as a guinea pig!

Thats a great idea...you have the right idea and if your clients nails are short already then there isnt alot shorter to go!!!lol

It will be good...keep me posted
