Hoping someone can help me :-D
My hair is in a pretty bad way after years of home bleaching! What was beautiful and long is now short, extremely fine and flat!! Ive now gone dark and using conditioning treatments once a week!!

My friend recommended i get a weave/ sewn in hair extensions to give my natural hair a break. I really love the sound of extensions but im so worried im going to ruin my hair even more :-(
So my question is.... Is it really possible to get hair extensions and not damage your natural hair? If so what method is top and what should i avoid?

Please help!!!!

TIA xxx :-D ;-)

Hair extensions shouldnt damage your hair, but if its already damaged its damaged. It wont do it any favours.

Weaves in particular I dont think are recommended for thin hair.

Id be tempted to try a 3/4 weave which just sits on your head and you take it off at night, a bit like a wig. beautyworks do really nice ones, even if its only for a couple of months with a synthetic you should have got some good healthy growth going on which may take extensions then,

Definitely don't go for a weave as they can pull on the hair. I would book in with a reputable extension specialist and let them test the strength of your hair. Also make sure that they offer a few methods so that they can offer one to suit your hair. If they say no then you could always try a Halo which are great for fullness and length in fine hair, good luck!

Ok thanks ladies!!

Wish I could rock a short hair style but it just doesn't suit me at all!

Will do lots of research for a good extensionist in my area :)

Hey,

I have very fine damaged hair, this has partly been caused by hating my thin hair and wearing extensions for over 20 years. Most recently because they were the cheapest and easiest for me to put in I have been glueing in my extensions....the result of this is I have lost a good 4 or 5 inches in length and my hair is thinner and more damaged than ever. I cant imagine my life without extensions, it truly makes me depressed not to have them. I have just discovered micro rings. So far they have been amazing, I put them in myself although don't necessarily recommend this as they are quite fiddly. They lie flat to my head, I can wash them easily, they move freely but most importantly they are doing zero damage to my own poor hair. I would recommend them to you for sure. Good Luck!

Please don't go down the route of fitting your own extensions. You can cause more damage than you realise.

Do lots of research of people in your area, look at pictures and reviews and word of mouth.

And please remember cheapest is not best. You want good quality hair fitted by a qualified and insured extensionist.

I wouldnt recommend a weave at all, i would continue to use a conditioning treatment & a trim every 6-8 weeks, if your hair is not damaged by the root, at least 2 inches i would recommend micro rings to build up the thickness, can't really advise more than that without seeing your hair :) xx

Also i would recommend mousturising shampoos conditioners, always use a heat spray & get a good leave in conditioner xx

I have found a place in birmingham called extend hair that does it quite close to me :) xx

If your hairs damaged due to bleaching I'd stay away from extensions all together for a while :( iv seen too many clients go from bad to worse whilst wearing extensions while hair is damaged due to bleach, your hair will be weak and brittle due to bleach and will not be able to hold extension hair .hang in there and get your hair back healthy first.. Xxx
