Hello I wondered if anyone can help, I have a stylist with level 2 Vrq and wants to do level 3 hair professional but have been told she can't as would need level 2 nvq hair professional first it means doing her level 2 again is this right?

Thank you

Which college is she attending? Who have you spoken to?

Admission to a course is largely up to the individual course admissions tutor and so you’d need to contact them directly. You may find that nearby colleges have different entry requirements. They will publish a generic admissions policy but depending on an individual student’s circumstances, they may offer some flexibility in their approach.
If your stylist has gained considerable experience in your salon since completing their VRQ, you should make this clear to the college staff.

There is sometimes confusion about the differences between the NVQ and the VRQ programmes and generally, for the NVQ, you need to be working as an apprentice in a salon. Also, the two awarding bodies - City & Guilds and VTCT may offer slightly different modules. For instance, if the Level 3 is offering advanced perming and the student hasn’t completed basic perming in their previous course, they might require them to complete that module first.
