Evening all!
Well, I'm setting up mobile at the mo, and am having some difficulty setting my prices. :irked:
Was thinking of setting it a few £ cheaper than my last salon, although this is the price that some local salons are now at the moment.
Do you mobile geeks have it around the same, more expensive, or cheaper than the salons?
And with me just starting out, I was wondering how to get clients to get their hair done in Jan? Do any of you do offers etc in Jan?
Any help or advice would be great, thanks geeks

Heya, what I would do is phone around a few salons or ask for their price lists. The thing is i wouldnt charge too low or you will lose money and if you look to cheap people will wonder why lol.. Maby try and get a few clients in before christmas would be a good idea?xx

it really depends on how you place yourself , i used to work in quite a successful salon ,and i base my prices on half of theirs , so my prices are probably equivelant to supercuts , but believe me the quality is much better generally , i would like to put my prices up more , but recently have found that im missing out on a few new clients because they think im expensive! So i make an alright living , but not great.
I find than jan is usually quite busy for me , i guess people that dont have it done at christmas recieve teir end of month pay check and then have nothing to spend it on!

New to this site. I have been mobile for 7 years now and it is doing great. I also opened in my home. What I did was take whatever commission was going on in town add a some (covers gas and insurance and some extra for you) plus average price of product and advertising you may do to set a price. If you already have a clients you can always lower at bit. Just make sure you are happy with your prices because they hate it when you raise them. I have been doing hair for over 20 years and have to say in enjoy this the most.

Hi!
I started up my mobile/freelance about 2 years ago and I 've made it pretty successful, but I remember at the beginning the worry of what to charge, so hard, also I found a lot of the problem was area's, where I am the general prices change quite a bit format he city to only 10-20mins outside, those clients found me expensive whilst the city clients found me cheap!?!?! So in the end i thought, i will charge what i feel i'm worth. Sometimes if someone said i was too deer i'd feel guilty and think i should do it cheaper for them, but then it's not fair on your other clients who pay the going rate.
I spend a lot of time with my clients, i go into great detail about their service, i always go in with a very up beat manner (that goes for us all =) ) i put in 110% so i feel what i charge is worth it, and if they don't like it then they can go somewhere else and pay less and possibly have a 'less' service.

But a great idea is to call round other mobile hairdressers in your area and salons and work out the average see what you come up with.

You do what you feel is right and fair and it will work out =)
