I would be grateful if anyone could help with a technical problem with my gun. I'm having a mare. Just cleaned my gun for the first time taking the needle out etc and now it isn't spraying properly. Do you know if the end of the needle should poke out of the centre hole where the spray comes out. I haven't noticed this before and my solution is coming out in really thin strips for some reason. Aaargh!

From a desperate geek, have 15 tans to do this week and now panicking....

Are you sure you have put the washer back in that sits behind the black dial that you move to change the spray from vertical to horizontal ?

Hi Louise

Yeah, everything is back in place where it should be but should the end of the needle be poking out of the spray hole. I think this may be what is causing the problem!!!!

How annoying...

Usually just the very tip of the point can be seen but it is very tiny so not very noticeable,
have you taken the nut off from the front where the needle goes through ?

My needle comes out quite a bit and it is very noticeable. I removed the screw at the back that controls the flow of spray and the nozzle at the front but didn't take the screw out in front of the lever as it was too stiff to turn round. Do I need a screwdriver for this?

A 10 mm spanner gets this off but if you haven't removed it don't do so yet until we can sort out this problem first,
the hole in the nut prevents the needle from coming out any further than it should do so maybe it is just a case of you not noticing it before,

take the front part apart again, you should have the black piece that holds everything in place,
then the silver direction nozzle,
then the washer that fits behind that, the washer has 4 cut out shapes around the edge that need to be fitted correctly into place when putting it back together,
check that there is nothing foreign in there and put it back together again and do a test spray on some couch roll making sure you have the direction nozzle straight up and down if you are spraying downwards hth

Thanks Louise for your help, I really appreciate it.

I have just taken the front apart like you said and it is put together properly based on what you said above. Solution is coming out okay but just in thin strips rather than a wider coverage like usual. I have put the nozzle back on as if I was spraying up and down i.e. with the two notches at each side rather than top and bottom (if this makes sense)!

Hopefully Collin might be able to shed more light on the problem in the morning. I won't be able to sleep now worrying about it. I've just had another two people book in now for Wednesday giving me 17 clients this week....

I knew I should have waited until the weekend to clean it, doh!

Louise, don't shout at me buuuutttttt, I have had a proper blonde moment.....

The nozzle was round the wrong way so I was spraying up and down when it was in the side to side position. I even looked at the diagram four or five times to make sure it was in the right position.....

Sorry for wasting you time hun!

Exactly from where is the gun leaking Gill...

This is something that does need sorting as you don't want to be dripping all over a customers brand new carpet let alone go dripping expensive solution all over the place.

Wouldn't dream of shouting at you Jackie, i did have a feeling this was the problem when you said it was spraying in a thin stripe but didn't want to jump to conclusions,
at least you know your gun very well now
